Default T1R test pipe rattle

After reading most of the threads on this topic, I still couldn't find a solution. So I was hoping if anyone has any idea.

After I installed a T1R tp, without the heat shield even though it came with mounting tabs for them, it would give me a rattling/ringing sound at almost all rpms until the engine noise overtakes it. It is more obvious when I blip the throttle (at any rpm). Checked that all bolts are tight, but the ringing is still there. Like others have mentioned on the other threads, it sounds alot like a civic with loose exhaust rattling when accel/decel'n.

What can I do to get rid of the sound? It is driving me nuts as I can hear it daily driving the car even cruising at 60 if I accelerate a bit harder I can hear it.

Thanks for any inputs.

you sure it isnt clutch buzz?

Is the o2 sensor tight? that was the cause of my rattle.

by clutch buzz did you mean this sound that most s2s get when warming up but goes away once the rpm drops to idling at 1k? I think I have this buzzing sound too but my friend says his s2 does the same. If so, do you know how to get rid of this buzz?

I have the buzz, but the ringing comes from after installing the test pipe, sorta like santa clau's ring, one of those small hand held ones, just ringing very fast. Any idea?

I did mount the cat shield on mine but the tabs broke so I removed it. No issues now.

Also, I tried it on with the stock exhaust and there was an annoying ringing sound. Then I put in an aftermarket exhaust and all issues were gone. So there was something in the stock exhaust.

I was guessing too the additional flow to the stock exhaust was going to cause some problem. But when I got under the car, it still sounded more like the sound was coming from the test pipe. Maybe I should check if the O2 simulator is securely tightened.

Any other possible causes? I might head down to the shop for an oil change and try to find the sound as the car is lifted, by shaking stuff? Would that be sufficient in finding the ringing?

Yeah... check the O2 Sensor. Someone I think had the same problem and he put high temp silicone on the threads and then screwed it in tight.

Can someone verify this?

I had a o2 sensor cause rattling, I used blue loctite and the rattling stopped.

I'd be willing to bet that it's the o2 sensor. You have to tighten that sucker down well!

I checked its tightness over and over again, noise doesn't seem to go away. So I guess the next thing to do would be to apply some high temp silicone as mentioned. Hope it solves it, otherwise I will need to put the cat back, I can't daily drive with the ringing, and am quite anal about it.
