Default Help Me With a Uni Question...

So I have a friend who made it to both schools. His major's Economics. If he goes to USF, he's looking at $30K a year, with the possibility to finish it in 1.5years. If he goes to Berkeley, he's looking at finishing in 2? I've made these few points: 1. USF is not that strong in Economics. 2. Outside the Bay Area, Berkeley would be far more recognized as the better school? 3. If he decides to go into I banking or any finance institution, a diploma from Berkeley would look better? At the end of the day it's where he wants to go and I understand that. If you were in his position, where would you choose?

If both schools are weak or comparable in the area I would opt for the more recognizable name (Berkeley). Am I correct in assuming this is a master's degree?

They're both good school!! To me doesn't really matter which school he goes to. I have couple friends that can't find a job after graduated from Berkeley. If you have talents and skills people will hire you.

After going to recruit at a job fair at Berkeley, I can say the school is only a small part of you total worth. None of the new college grads that I talked to showed much interest in their field outside of homework assignments!

I work with a few stanford grads and they make stanford seem so overrated.

Whichever school has the stronger program or more known program, i'd go there. School only makes a small amount of the bigger picture.

Absolutely agree with you folks. Ultimately it's the individual, not the school that defines a career. I guess the question here really is about whether you're getting your money's worth since you're going to be spending over $20K for an education.

Honestly, a 2 year education is not going to equal the preparation that you will receive from a four year or greater education. Take the name and run with it.
