Default Custom AP1 Bumper & Grills

ok so I am a perfectionist and when I bought my S there were some very minor rock chips existing... so being me I am having the hood, both front fenders, and the front bumper repainted so they are perfect.

While I am at it I followed the instructions in the DIY vented hood thread and added 4 vents to my stock hood... I cant find the pics of that but I will post them when I do. While making the mesh grills for the hood I decided to make custom grills for my bumper and brake ducts... so the following pictures will show the process... enjoy!

First you have to cut all the stock plastic grill out and smooth the inner edge:

Then you have to cut the mesh sheet... I got some perforated aluminum and cut it into sheets about 50 percent larger than the openings so I had plenty to work with... and then cut and folded and rolled it into the shape of the vents... like so:

Then you need to test mount them:

And here is a peek at my shaved front bumper notice the lack of plate holes / tow hook slot / and also the badge has been removed:

Sounds like a great project! Can't wait to see it. I used to live in Omaha, NE. Never got to know any other S2k's in there before I moved. Anyways, good luck!

looking good, the cut on the plastic grille looks prefect, just a idea/suggerestion if you may(not sure it's useful)

you might want to use a good coat of paint instead of powdercoat, what happen in my old grille was that it was chipping from all the rock chip and i don't think you can get a exact color match for powdercoat finish with paint(again, i am not exactly sure)

Why didn't you just buy an aftermarket grill from grilletech or something?
