Default Did I make a bad decision?

I'm becoming more and more disapointed with my car every day.

I'm not even 3 months into ownership yet and I've shelled out roughly $4600 in repairs and upgrades. Still not being happy with the car I'm considering swallowing the loss and selling it.

Number 1 problem: Its noisey, rattles and squeaks everywhere.
a. decelerating at 2500-3500 rpm, it rattles so bad I can feel it. I read somewhere about a clutch problem, but I just put a new clutch in the car (along with a new transmission, this problem existed with the old transmission too)? If I take the car out of gear/push the clutch peddle in the rattle goes away.
b. Top squeaks like crazy - Is there a specific type of oil I should use?
c. Exhaust is too loud - this is my fault as I installed the HKS Hi-power cat back with a test pipe. Would putting the stock cat back on and ditching the test pipe make a worth while difference?

Number 2 problem: Its supercharged and its still slow. I would like to get it on the dyno and find out what I'm putting down, but I thought this thing would scream? I know this is relative so I can't ask for any advise here.

I think the car is amazingly beautiful and a joy to drive when the top is down. But this being my daily driver, I would atleast like to get the car a bit quieter and the rattles/squeaks taken care of. Does anyone have experience with the problems listed under number 1, and can offer advise how to fix this stuff?

I think you should eat the losses and sell the car. If you think the HKS is loud , whoa...... a "sports car" is not for you.

-HKS+TP too loud? haha yeah i agree with blue03s2k that a "sports car" is not for you (i have HKS + TP and it's almost silent while cruising...)

-you can't expect a lightweight drop top not to squeak when it's up

-2500->3500rpm is the drone range for most exhausts so you'll feel a little rattle when decelerating in lower gears

-new clutch/tranny might have been to big a move for relatively small problems

-it's supercharged, but what else do you have? superchargers require many accompanying mods for you to get the most out of them!

good luck dude

If the exhaust is too loud then I would say put stock back on. I am completely fine with stock exhaust on mine. I don't want anything too loud so it suites me fine.

You could try sound deadening the car. I've heard it makes a good difference. But, I guess that depends on how much you do. Some of the deadening is not the lightest stuff, so that might be something to think about if your looking for your car to be "faster".

Good luck with your decision!

what car did you come from to say the s2k with a supercharger is slow? lol did you not test drive it or at least sit in it being driven before you bought it? Turn up your music to get those squeeks out is my recommendation. If you want more power get the right additions as others have said. comptech is pretty good to me, not loud unless you step on it and it looks stock (its a restrictive exhaust just like the hks though) but thats the way to go for you sinceyou dont want "loud".

Use mine as a daily driver and have very little squeaks. Yes the car is loud, but that goes with the territory with a small, hihg performance car without a top.

you might even want to get a more free flowing exhaust than the HKS since you have a supercharger, but it'll be a LOT louder...

i don't think you should put it back to stock with the supercharger because it could damage the supercharger (exhaust flow will not be free enough and will cause backpressure).

I may have thrown this post together without clearly explaining myself. Everyone has different opinions, expecially when it comes to whats fast and whats loud.

My exhaust system is too loud, however some may consider it acceptable. I was told it was one of the quieter aftermarket systems so I purchased it. I will either add another resonator or put a stock system back on (which in no way would damage a supercharger).

If the rattle I'm experiencing is considered reasonable by the exhaust manufactuer, they should be out of business. Besides, I don't think what I am experiencing is the drone as I hear that separately. This my biggest concern at the moment, as I'm pretty confident I can get the other issues worked out. Can anyone offer some advise here?

I think what you need is one of the more experienced members to test drive your car with you. They'd be able to tell you what's wrong, most likely. Did you get an EMS with your SC? Or did you do any tuning at all? That could be a big part of not feeling the speed when you hit the gas...
