Back Yard Special kit is made out of flexible Urethane.
Worst kind when it comes to bodykit. Because of flexible nature, the finish never looks smooth and flat, and they are prone to crack easily.
How do I know this? I had them once and I regret very much for wasting money on them.
Since you liked them very much, yourself can try and have them on your car, but don't expect to last very long.
They look good on photos but seeing them in person is real way of seeing how they look like.

KIDS2000, Getting painted on it is no problem, anything can be painted on. The surface isn't baby smooth especially on side skirt, you can see surface ripple. The imperfection cannot be easily seen when viewed directly but you can see them when viewed on angle.
The kit attaches low and if you are lowering on top of that then watch out!
Looks like you added more questions:
It is double sided tape application. Fitment is very questionable.
I had hard time getting it attached flat on the body. And when I stressed on one section, it started to crack on the end.
To make matters worse, tape application came off gradually.
Despite all the bad things, if you know any body shop that is really good at doing aftermarket stuff and can improvise when problem occurs, I guess you can still pursue.
But it is a headache when something doesn't work out from the beginning.
It really is up to you and how badly you want the look.
