This is getting to be absurd. It's almost laughable except that we enjoy 129 so much.

I plan to spend more time on some of the back roads in NC when I go to DBR.

Not surprising, really. Blount county has been increasingly using the Dragon as a cash cow. It only takes 2 or 3 marked cars to keep things safe and sane. 14 is fundraising.

I actually emailed all the government officials listed on that page last night. One agency has replied and basically said "Too bad." I think a good chunk of it was a form letter, since it made mention of "quotas" (which I didn't even hint at) and referred to "recreational motorcycle activity" when I made no mention of our two-wheeled friends.

THAT is freakin' ridiculous!

I'll add my $.02 via an email later today.

A small-ish group of us are going up for McDragon next weekend; (8/17-8/18). We'll report back.

(Interested? McDragon Info Here)

Not surprising, since the 'organizers' are motorcycle people. They shouldn't assume though, but yeah, not surprising.

By the way... if you guys want your opinions read, write a letter. E-mail gets brushed off for the most part.

When I (we) head down that way.... one or two runs on the Dragon... the rest of the time is finding other roads... almost always in NC...

So.... lets continue to stay in NC.... and just find more good roads there....

Hotel taxes, gas taxes, sales taxes, etc can all go to NC..

Back a few years ago.. Blount County got me and Kazu on 321 heading to the Foothills.... reckless driving.... cop would not listen at all... charges made up completely... with an attorney we got it reduced to an under 10 ticket... but it cost us! And they got their court costs.... so much for innocent till proven guilty...

That stinks. Not surprised it has actually made the road even more dangerous as per Killboy's blog.

I'm all for spending in NC. Which means no Alcoa Hooters and Wal-Mart. Would be interesting to send our combined $ spent to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and cc the Blount County Sherrif & Tennessee Highway Patrol. As well as send the manager of the Hooters and Wal-mart the estimated number of lost customers, again cc'ing the gov't agencies.
