Bob and Connie's Excellent Nova Scotia Adventure
It all pretty much started like this:
It was foggy when we left Portland on the 19th. This is Portland Head

We landed in Yarmouth to more fog and high winds. The next day it was heavy fog and torrential downpours. But we did manage to get a couple of shots of Peggy's Cove's Lighthouse.

There were 11 lighthouses on the Lighthouse trail, we only were able to see 2. Ah well, we did make our way to Halifax and there are no pics as it was pouring rain and any ocean views were very foggy.
We then headed for Baddeck, which was our destination for 3 nights, we drove in heavy rain and fog again. We arrived on Saturday, day three of rain and fog. On Sunday morning when we got up it was raining, it was the day we planned on the Cabot Trail drive. We decided after breakfast to drive it in the rain anyways. We were headed for Margaree and not more than 15 minutes into our drive the clouds seperated and the sun came through.
The Cabot Trail was without a doubt the best part of our trip. Here are a pics I took on trail. It was a phenominal drive that lasted about 8 hours.

About mid trail we ate at the resturant at the lower left of this pic

The Rusty Anchor, we had lobster and Alaskan Crab legs, they were wonderful.

These were great roads to be in the S, some we could not photograph as they were narrow and twisty with granite mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. The drive up and down Mt. Smokey was a blast, one of the most twisty windy up and down roads I have ever driven. I was laughing from the driving excitement, Connie was holding on for dear life. An Amazing ride not to be forgotten.
The next day we drove the Marconi and Fleur de Lis trails and visited the Fortress at Louisbourg. A recreation of a colonial times port in Nova Scotia.

We ate lunch in the second building from the corner. It was set up just like in colonial times, we had a fairly dry piece of bread, with a bowl of beefstew in a metal bowl. You were given only a table spoon to eat, the menu was very short, beefstew and macaroni and cheese for the kids. You could order milk and apple juice to go with your hot buttered rum.

There were many people dressed in attire of the day, even children.

Needless to say we had a blast once the clouds parted. Most of the pictures I took were on the Cabot Trail as they had so many scenic pull overs, it made it easy. Many of the other pics while we were driving were while I was in the car and took a shot.
I posted a buch of pics that you can view at my site Nova Scotia. Do not be bashful. All the pictures can be viewed at different sizes. Just below the pictures you can select Original, Large, medium or small. So depending on your connection you can choose what fits you best. Also there is a copyright warning but that is to scare away people who want to make money. So if you want to copy or link any pics, help your self.
We had a wonderful time, the pictures are just a sampling of the near 400 I took, many were duplicate pics.

Sorry you had so many foggy days at the start of your trip. We also took the lighthouse trail and were lucky to have beautiful, sunny days (except for our arrival in Yarmouth---looked like yours!)
Seeing the pictures of the Cabot Trail makes me want to return!! It is a great S2000 road. Was there much traffic on it? We were there on a Sunday, and there was surprisingly little traffic.

Fortunately, when I was at Peggy's Cove, it was a nice day.
