Default School is in.... VTEC vs cavalier?? (results)

Well unfortunately I could not get hold of a video camera in time (though I will have one this saturday when I go down to the cruising strip)

So he's got a bunch of his friends around, and they are all so excited to see my little honda. I asked the kid if he seriously wanted to run, or just see how he would do. He's like "what? I'll beat your 2.0 liter". Um, oooookaaaaay.

So we get on the street and line up. No one will start, so I tell him he can count. 3, 2, 1... I launch at the full 6,000rpm and just rip off the line. Perfect start. He never even gets ahead of me, I just rape and pillage off the line. At 120 I shut down (he's 25 lengths behind??? christ, how can you tell when there's only a speck in the rearview...)

I come back to the school and all the guys are like "dayum". (yeah chicks too) Yay, I just impressed a bunch of high schoolers

Here's the best part. He comes back and is like "wow that thing is fast". They couldn't believe it. I said "yeah it will beat mustangs, some camaros, etc"

Some guy comes up and says "you will not beat a camaro"
I said "um, yeah I will"
He goes, "you want to run mine"
I said "sure" (i mean, come on, what's the chance he's got an LS1??)

So he gets his car, and as he's pulling up, I see the slits in the hood by the windshield... LT1. hehe. Even better, he's got an auto. haha.

So same story this time, out on the road... he counts (does a "race start" with his auto tranny) and go.

He gets a good jump of course, but by 1st gear VTEC I am pulling on him hard. 2nd I pull ahead.. 3rd I'm really pulling on him. shut it down at about 100 and I was about 4-5 lengths by then. (hard to tell cuz i looked in the rearview to check and he had started to slow down)

two birds with one stone.

After I sat around and we all talked and checked out each other's cars. They were cool after the racing, so it's all good. And some kids learned something today.

At that age, kids think they know everything (I'm sure we were all like that). Sometimes they need to be shown that they don't.

That's awsome. They'll be talking about your car for weeks. Especially because you didn't act like a jerk about it. Kudos. And an LT1 auto?!? Jeez, that's like a 15 second car. Highschoolers are just used to racing other highschoolers, and if Milwaukee is like Appleton, there aren't many cars to brag about.

You apparently didn't read my previous thread. I told the full story for a reason.

No, not much here around milwaukee. There are some cars heavily modded. But most are show and no go. Most cars remain stock other than basic mods.

shizon, yeah I probably did make some future rice owners. Sorry to turn them away from the pushrods! lol

silverbullet,
yeah, I used to be the same way in high school. I used to think it was all engine size. a v6 would always beat a v8, etc. i thought my sunbird was unbeatable. lol. but that's why i sat and chatted with them for a while. they were pretty cool then.
