Default Hi guys, another victim of S2k attempted theft

Hi there guys. I'm in Deerfield Beach, and have had my S2 for a year now (lived with it in Jacksonville, no probs, then moved down here in Oct). So Thurs night someone slashed the top, couldn't steal the seats b/c i have the seat locks, so they slashed them up instead, and took the floor mats and shift knob (stock).

She was parked in a brightly-lit spot directly in front of my ground floor apt. Sucks! So a place in Boca is doing the repairs. What should i be expecting as far as the seats go? Will they recover the existing seats w/new leather? Or replace the seats entirely with newer S2k seats? I'm concerned that they'll end up being inferior so i'd like to see what you guys think.

I'm looking into alarms now for it, maybe Viper or Python. Otherwise looking into garaged apts, condos and townhomes but the irony is in order to afford a garaged property i'd no doubt have to sell the S2k. A painful decision but if it were to mean getting out of a crummy rental property and driving only my '96 Accord then I'd do it.

Thanks!

as far as an alarm goes.... Clifford.

Honda doesn't sell the entire seat as a part. They sell alll of the parts that make up the seat.

You should be able to replace jsut the foam and the leather form Honda nad have a reputable shop install them. I've have my seats apart and it's not a big deal to replace those parts.

they should replace the top not try to fix it

Hope that helps

Go get an alarm.
Audio Logic in Davie has worked on many of our cars. Tell Mike you are part of the s2ki group and that I sent you, and he will take good care of you

That stinks that they slashed the seats. Usually they just bail. Its a good thing that someone () told you about the seat locks though, so at least you know they didn't get what they wanted!

Where in Boca is doing the repairs? The seat 'skin' is one of the pieces that make up the seat if I recall, so they SHOULD be able to just re-skin them or put a new leather covering on. By doing that they should look brand new. You may want to ask what the insurance company approved for repairs.

I agree with Mitch on the alarm, get a Clifford. Although I think DEI (owns Viper and Python) just bought Clifford. Its really more of the install on an alarm versus the actual alarm. For that reason I'd go to a specialized audio place versus Circuit City or Best Buy. Most of the installs I've seen from retails are mediocre at best.

Make sure you get one with a proximity sensor so it will start chirping when they get close to the car. A good place in Boca for an alarm is Audio Advisors on Boca Rio Road.

Sorry to hear about though. Good luck on getting it back to normal!
