Where do I start! mmm....

Well, a few months ago some of you might know that I ran a GB for the PC 7424 machine polisher. I've been practising on a few cars, including a Nismo 350Z, before I was going to let myself loose on my S. The PC is an awesome piece of kit and really gets rid of swirl marks and scratches.

So, my recipe for a detail -

Take one of these (the dirtier the better!) -




(note the exhaust back boxes)

Add some of these -



Take 3 days to wash, clay bar, Porter cable / polish and wax and you get this -







The next pic I know will generate some debate so I've got my flame suit on! I actually like it! I know some people will think it's daft or chav, but I think it suits the car well! Hopefully I'll get some positive feedback, but this is a public forum and people are entitled to their own opinions!

I think it's a job well done! It's had a wash, clay bar, another wash, PC'd with Poor Boy's SSR2.5, waxed with collinite x 2 over 2 days and a final layer of Megs Gold Class liquid wax. Wheels were removed and cleaned the waxed with collinite. Tyre dressing on. In side was vacuumed, dusted and the Auto Glym leather restorer put on the seats and door cards. Windows polished with glass polish. Exhaust back boxes were cleaned to get rid of the flaking black paint with a brillo pad and Auto Glym metal polish. 3 days later and...

...JOB DONE!

Red calipers are down to personal taste. I personally don't think the calipers looks meaty enough to make the stand out by painting them red.

But the Brembo stickers, come on! May as well take off the honda badges and replace them with ferrari ones.

 

Red is okay, but why oh why would you put Brembo stickers on weedy obviously OEM sliding calipers?

 

I could take off the honda badges and replace them with Subaru or Mitsubishi, or even Peugeot! They all have Brembo brakes! I honestly think Honda should have put Brembo or the likes on the S.

Dembo - A lot of people wouldn't know the difference and would think they were Brembo. I just think it sets off the front wheel area.

 

Good job on the detail, not that I'm an expert. I wouldn't be brave enough to take a machine to the paint on my car!

Like you said, red calipers and Brembo stickers are your choice.

 

I think Itchy has just provided the perfect definition of the word "chav".

What do you think of the back boxes?

johnbuck - It's really easy. VERY hard to go wrong! I practised on my GFs 306 beater before I did mine!

 

PC Orbital is unlikely to cause any problems even with the soft paint but a rotary polisher could cause all kinds of issues .

No engine bay? looks nice for a slow one

 

I was too tired to do the engine bay!!! Weak I know!
