Thumbs up Just fitted a J's Racing ECU

I've just fitted a J's Racing ECU on the 'S' this afternoon.

I'm buying it from a guy in Birmingham who had the same mods as I have on his 'S' (Exhaust, decat, Manifold throttle body and intake). I havn't paid for it yet as he has let me have it for a couple of weeks to see if I like it and iron out any snags.

I borrowed a tool from Honda to slacken the bolts on the ECU, swapped the units, plugged in the J's unit and fired her up - no problem. Everything works as before but the flashing green key doesn't go out on the dash.

Does anyone know how I can overcome this ?

I'm not all that fussed about the immobiliser working but I would like to keep it if possible.

Initial thoughts to come later.

Andy

Ah you bought it

I couldn't afford it, but it was well priced.

Not sure on the immob - you might have to live with it.

Amuse Boy has one IIRC.

So you saw it too !!

It didn't sell and I was standing by with my offer

I've spoken to AB a couple of weeks ago and I'm waiting for him to get back to me.

The guy selling it just put a sticker over the light but I like things to be right.

If I keep it I'm also going to get the AFR checked out just to be sure

On most modern cars from 1998 on I think, the immoboliser was built in to the ECU as well as another module. This made swapping out standard ECUs a litte more difficult as they need to be reprogrammed.

My guess is that it is complaining that it cant find the immoboliser!

Be interesting to see what gains you get... Noice!

Lack of immobiliser is going to have insurance implications too, if you can't find a way to get around the problem....

Honda alarm has still got an immobiliser built into it so shouldn't be a problem.

Insurance will only want more money off you if you tell them the ECU is for extra power, couple of minutes to swap, I wouldn't bother.
