Good article! I'm a big believer (and user) of detailing clay for all the reasons named above. Everytime I detail a car I always clay the paint before waxing or polishing. Typically, it won't make a difference appearance wise (unless there's overspray). Sometimes you can see a difference on a white car but that's it. The big difference is the smooth feeling of the panels afterward.

I'm already using clay and I learned a few new things about it. The more I can learn, the better the car will look, and that can't hurt one bit!

Phil, articles like this will be quite beneficial to people like me I think. I've always taken good care of my cars. Cars are expensive and they should be treated as such. But only recently have I started wanting to get "serious" about it, with things like buffers and polishes and "Two Bucket Methods" and whatnot. Having seen that it makes a huge difference, and doesn't really require all that much more effort, has been a real light bulb moment for me. So articles like this are great - both for learning new things, and sometimes, for backing up the things I've learned by doing.
