Default Do V-AFC gains last???

This issue has been touched upon a few times, but as far as I know, it still has not been completely settled... There seems to be some question as to whether the ECU will compensate (nullifying the gains) for tuning done through a V-AFC or not. Is this only an issue if you make changes to the part-throttle fuel mapping (as opposed to full-throttle)? What's the verdict on this? Has anyone that made significant V-AFC gains on the dyno gone back a few weeks later and re-tested it?

I haven't seen proof on the S2000, but I have seen it with the Prelude. UL and I have debated this before (at least, other mods and "relearning") and he is of the thinking that any WOT/VTEC mods (like the AFC) would NOT be undone. I agree that this should be right theoretically... but I've seen dyno proof on the Prelude that this is not the case. I would assume the S2000 is handled very similar.

This is what worries me. I have also heard the prelude will work around a V-AFC and I still haven't seen anyone with an S2000 tune with a V-AFC and then dyno again a few weeks later for comparison. I have, however, seen a few V-AFC's for sale... so maybe people have found the gains go away and are keeping it hush hush so they can dump their V-AFC's and recoup their losses. I believe tuning the part-throttle maps with a V-AFC WILL lead to the ECU working around that tuning (and in the process, some of the full throttle tuning as well). But I'm uncertain what will happen if you tune only the full-throttle maps.

Well Rev, as soon as I get my VAFC harness and find a place to install my new dynojet, I'll tell you exactly what happens.

The only possible issue I can see with respect to the full throttle changes being compensated for is if you set the hi-throttle percentage too low on the VAFC. If the VAFC starts tweaking maps at 50% throttle while the ECU is still in closed loop, say goodbye to the gains. And I don't think you want too big a spread on the differential between hi and lo throttle. As I understand it, the VAFC interpolates your changes between the two.

Ok, lemme see if I have this straight... So many of you have been buying V-AFC's that there are now hard to find because you've bought all of them up... You can spend over $300 on the V-AFC and $140 on a harness, plus any shipping/handling/tax that might also add to that (basically $500 OTD). But so far no one has been willing to spend $50 to make sure it is actually making power in the long term???

Well, UL - keep me posted.
