Default Honda responds to Better Business Bureau

If you have a problem with your car that you can't get resolved otherwise you might try the BBB. It worked for me. Here's the story as briefly as I can tell it.

Removed w/s tape from my Spa Yellow last August. Had small paint flaw. Took to dealer. Said DSM (dist. svc. mgr) would have to authorize. I talked to DSM on his next visit and he flat turned me down on phone. Wouldn't even look at car and was something of a jerk. Wrote AHM cust relations and turned down again. Said they rarely overrode DSM and that I had "modified" car. Wrote again to Mr. Amemiya (pres. of AHM) pointing out that Honda "advertises" a Spa yellow with tape removed. Did so in 2001 poster in showrooms, on website and in 02 full line brochure. Therefore I didn't "modify" it, just made it look like their ads. Heard back from same guy in cust. relations and turned down again.

Then went to BBB website and filed complaint on-line with BBB nearest Irvine, CA. Got a call from Serv. Mgr. at local dealer WITHIN A WEEK. Said to come in for estimate. I did the next day and witin a few days he had approval to do repair as "good will". Took car in Monday and picked up yesterday. It's PERFECT.

Apparently AHM takes BBB complaints seriously.

It's sad to hear that it takes going to the BBB to get results with a Honda DSM. I would hope, especially on a car like the S2000, that they'd at least be a bit open-minded about a complaint.

Yes it is sad that I had to resort to this for a mere $215 repair. Another Honda dealer told me that the DSM is pretty much God and that cust. rel. can only ask him to review the matter.

The problem is that when I spoke to the DSM (via phone) and he said no, I mentioned that I knew of at least 2 other similar repairs that had been authorized. His reply, and I quote, was:

"Well there haven't been any done in TN and there aren't going to be"

$215, eh? An intelligent businessman would realize that Honda would make 3-4 times that when you, as a happy Honda customer, came back and bought another Honda.

Key word is "intelligent" I guess....

I was thinking you were S.O.L until I read the part about how the car looked in the posters, then my thinking changed to "this guy's got a good point"...all you want is a car that looks like the one in the poster......good work!

Integrate, I don't think there is a BBB IN Irvine but there is one nearby that serves Irvine. On the BBB website you just enter the location of the company you wish to file a complaint against and it refers to nearest BBB.
