BTW! I have the xpel clear bra kit on my car from www.clearbra.com I had a professional install it for a parts and labor total of $600. I bet you can't even notice it in these pictures! I have it on the whole front end, headlights and mirrors. It goes about 1/4 of the way up the hood.
Oops! I spelled tape without an "e" anyone know how I can edit the title?
LondonRam:
I opened the drivers side door, pulled back the lowest part of the rubber molding on the "A pillar" or windshield pillar and there was a small black "tab" that I started with. The sides come off the easiest. I just pulled and pulled. When I got to the corner, it came off, and I had to peel up a small corner of the tape agan and start over. The side took about 30 seconds. The top of the windshield took about 10 min because it kept tearing off(the tape) and because parts would be left behind under the rubber trim that I needed to pull out. The top connects with the passenger side so you can just keep pulling around the corner and go down. When you get to the end, keep your fingers close to the car on the tape, and pull slow in order to get all of it out of the nooks.
You will see some VERY nice body color paint with clear coat exposed.
I then took a paper towel with "goo-b-gone" and treated the whole painted area that was taped, and spent more time where some tape residue had been left behind.
Then I took another paper towel, wet it, and went over it again to remove the "goo-b-gone"
Then I waxed it, and went over it with Zymol Field Glaze.
Make sure you fix the rubber between the paint and the glass. It will pull up a little, but just go under it with your finger nail and it will go back to normal.

It looks like sebring silver with clear coat! Look at the large size of the pictures and you will see how good it looks. I guess the ONLY drawback is that you COULD get rock chips on this paint now oh the highway where the black tape might protect it. But do we have black tape all over our CARS? NO!
Jenner, your car looks sweet man, and you can spell however you wish, but just remember, if you ever start to slag anyone make sure you use Spell Check, this board and it's members are quite unforgiving in some ways ('cause it's mostly made up of anal-retentive a$$holes , and everyone shut up 'cause I can be one of em'...lol) and they'll rip you apart for any little thing when you are slagging (Tommy's a good dude, he just must have been havin' a bad day). Want a good solution? Don't slag. It's taken me a while to learn that one. Just a little bit of free advice to a newer member.

I would assume, having worked at the factory in Marysville for five years, that it was a cost issue. The tape is a lot less expensive than painting that specific area black. Actually, when I took delivery of my first s2k I thought they had painted it black and I was surprised - from a cost standpoint.
I would also assume that the design team thought that with the top up, there were too many distracting colors without the black tape. Personally, I really like the look of the car in this tread with the top down and no black tape, but I don't think I would like it with the top up.
