Default scratches in windshield

So this morning I woke up to a frozen car covered in frost. I didn't have an ice scraper handy so I took a my old license plate and softly scraped off the ice.
After it all dried up, I noticed that there were light swirls and scratches everywhere. Any ideas on how to get those out? Do I have to replace the whole thing?

Any input would be helpful. THANKS!

WTH?!!!

Defrost + 15 minutes, next time.
Or proper windshield wiper fluid and spray the windshield (providing it's not bitter cold).

There is windshield wax, but it's going to be messy when you use your windshield wiper fluid in the future.

Hope there's nothing permanent, but you may be looking at a $200 replacement.

Yes sir! LOL! Aw man no idea why that made me laugh other than that is what I've used for years and years to get ice off my window!

YOOOOOU are serious??

I've never heard of such a thing. "So I hadn't shaved in a couple days, looked in the mirror and noticed some roughness and picked up my power hedgeclippers"

I'd say you likely damaged it just enough that scratch-x might fix it. Good luck!! Our windshields are about 30-40% more expensive than they should be.

hm.... old license plate. That's brutal. I think that would be the last thing that'd come to my mind.
