Please note that the car used for testing is still using the OEM exhaust header. As a result, the power up top over 7800 RPM is limited due to this restriction.
The peaks gains made were 16 ft-lbs of torque and 22 hp. We believe the hp and torque would have kept climbing to redline if the header supported the increased flow.
Before: 255.2 ft-lb Torque 403.1 hp @ 8500 RPM
After: 271.3 ft-lb Torque 415.2 hp @ 8500 RPM
After trying 5 different combinations of mufflers, resonators and tips, I am finally satisfied with the aesthetics, and more importantly, the sound of this 3" dual exhaust system. I compare the sound to something between the Supersprint and the Comptech, it's a deep, warm note that has a bit of a growl to it. Of course I am biased, so if there is anyone who would like to assist me in recording a sound clip, I would offer an incentive.
The entire system is made from mandrel bent 304 stainless steel. Each system is then TIG welded and polished.
The tips are double walled and the mufflers are a straight through design.
Specifications:
The 3" mid-resonator is 15" long.
The two 2.5" mufflers are 14" x 8.5" x 5.5"
The tips are 4" OD.
The weight of the system is 39.8 lbs.
I will be testing this system at Church's dyno on Casterdog's Vortech SCed AP2 as we have a lot of consistent data on this vehicle as it progressed to the 405WHP baseline we will be starting from.
If you have any questions or comments, please post them.
I'll entertain you all with pictures in the meantime...
