Default What's better? Confused.

I'm thinking of getting an SLR but I don't need the high end ones. Which camera is better, the Nikon D40, or the Canon XT.

Rich seriously needs to make a sticky about these types of questions.

Go to a shop who has both and try them. Buy the one that feels better in your paws.

There's (very) little to choose between them - it's really down to personal preference ... especially since you don't appear to be looking beyond an entry level dSLR.

Also the question has been asked many times here - that's why you're getting the 'helpful' responses

Limited lens options with the d40. Between it and the Canon, get the Canon. No question.

+1 for personal preference.

Check lense prices and see what fits your budget for what you want. Sorry man, but that's a very general question.

BTW What's better honda or toyota?

Actually, feeling the camera in your paws is a good thing to go off of. I definitely regret buying such a small camera. The batter grip helps, a lot. A 20-30-40D would be nice though. 5D even nicer. Etc.. Feel the camera. You'll know what you like. Go from there.
