Supercharged S, not starting...

Default Supercharged S, not starting...

Well I'm at a loss tonight. I tried to start my car this morning for work and no go. Had to get the roomie to take me to work.

Here is what I've checked so far:
Spark plugs; ok
one coil for spark; ok
EMS; ok. It's reading everything it's suppose to be reading.
fuses under hood; ok
fuses under dash; ok
fuel pump working; ok

It keeps turning, sparking, and I smell gas. . . wtf is going on.

I got my tuner coming over after he gets out of the gym, good thing I've known him since he was 16 huh?

Only thing I can think of atm is that more than one coil pack is not working. No freaking idea is going on.

Anyone want to drop by and help me out with some coils real quick?

This might be a long shot, and I can't find any reference in the S2000 shop manual, but it could be moisture. Once upon a time I had a Ford Escort (POS, but it was all I could afford) and when it got cold on damp days the stupid thing wouldn't start. Same symptoms, raw fuel smell, turned over fine but no start. The problem was that I did not put enough of that di-electric grease on the ends of the plug wires when I replaced the spark plugs. Now, I don't know if the S2000 requires that di-electric grease on the ends of the coil packs that hook into the spark plug, but it might be worth a try. It took the knuckleheads at the Ford dealer quite some time to figure it out since it would start once it sat out in the sun for a bit. When it was damp the spark would simply ground on the cylinder head instead of going to the spark plug. If nothing else, check to see if you have condensation at the ends of the coil pack going into the spark plugs.

does the it have a crank or cam sensor that is bad???the car should run on 3 cylinders

firing order can't be screwed up on a S2000.

I'd help you out Justin, but I'm gonna be in NN all day.

And em18u is right, it should run on 3 cylinders. The crank sensor connector is just to the left of the thottle body, 3 wire connector. Make sure its tight. Also, can you plug in the stock ECU still?

You said plugs were ok, but is there any chance that your start-up "tune" is way too rich and has fouled the plugs? I've seen this happen before.

I honestly can't work on it the next two days. I'm bringing it to Dyno inc or Mjs house on monday to take a better look at some things. I'm off those two days so we shall see.

Revenuer, That is a good suggestion. When I did take the plugs out the were a bit wet however I'm sure it was from cranking it over and over.

ff2skip, I will mention that to mj.

Tony and em18u, I'll look into that as well. I was hoping that it is the coil packs and it's more than one that went out. I'm just at a loss for words at how it runs so well for the last couple of weeks and then all of a sudden over night after a ride of normal driving it takes a sh!t on me. Mj and I took a look at it for about two-ish hours last night in 20* weather. We were able to get it just and actually running however as soon as mj would slow down from him pulling my car with his truck it would stall out as soon as I let the clutch out or gave it gas. When I got it started it felt as if the throttle isn't doing anything, on the ems stream read out it shows a throttle %... so... gay

the plugs were wet so you know its getting gas!!!! seems like somethng to do with the ecu i know nothing about your setup!

If you have fuel and spark then it's almost certain that the spark is happening at the wrong time. Check that crank sensor. The odds of multiple electrical failure (coil packs) is very slim.

It is possible that the spark is weak enough to be visible outside the engine when you test the spark plugs, but not actually fire when under compression but that's a long shot.

Not to be ignorant but why not? It's an EMS. You have to specify a firing order. Well unless you are using a pre-tuned map.
