Photos of new windscreen template and information on our tests
Sam_S2K and I finished our third round of testing fitting and on-the- road evaluation at speed (high speed!) this morning.
I have good news and bad news.
First, the good. Aesthetically, even with only the foam board template, the new curved design is a huge improvement, so that alone will make probably make it worth doing.
Second, Sam and I agree the full screen makes a big difference over the stock screen in cutting down wind intrusion into the ****pit (we tested it at speeds up to nearly 100 mph). It may not make as big a difference for taller drivers (Sam and I are about 5

Hey Rick, this looks pretty good. I had thought about doing this a few months back, but just never got arround to it.
Anyhow, I am very anxious to know the price of the finished product. I would be interested in one, as soon as it is available.
Keep us posted.

I won't have any information about price for at least two weeks. But my goal is to keep it under $100. Since we'll be selling only the Lexan piece with or without logo, not the whole assembly, I think that's a reasonable goal, and we may be able to do it for a lot less. I just don't know now.

Cool! The mock up it sure looks like the aesthetically correct shape.
Will a slight reduction in height allow access to the compartment? Since unimpeded access to storage with the top up or down is important to me it would be a firm decision point.
Would also ask about testing with the lexan piece to include some night / city driving looking for visibility issues. The stock unit is under the line of sight eliminating any glare concerns but this one does give you something else to peer through (users of the Mingster version may already have the answer).
Truthfully I have mixed feelings about the unit. As effective as it might be it strikes me as too large an add-on.. almost like trying to turn the open car into one with a big sunroof.

BTW, we have found that the stock unit is more effective with the top cover installed. Looks like today's testing did not include that so it may not simulate the experience of some.
May also change airflow through the headrests.
