Default Why rice out such a beautiful car?

You guys ooh and ahhh everybody who puts an ugly wide body and/or huge wing, but when a civic owner does it you all scream RICE, what's the difference? IMHO there is none, just a bunch of I'm superior than you because I drive an S2000 ego's. Some of the kits do compliment the car but most don't Mugen Anyhow there's my rant...lol...

It seems you have 2 points: one is that people are hypocrites for flaming coupe owners for something, then doing it to their S2000. The other is that you feel most aesthetic changes people make are only making the car less attractive.

The first argument is valid. I don't believe there is any one correct response to this, because there is no one reason why people do it. I believe, however, that some people (including myself) feel it is a waste of money to do anything to a little Civic econo-box. This is generally rooted in performance mods, though; if you put a coil-over kit on a Civic, it is still an econo-box chassis. But yeah, if an S2000 owner can enjoy his/her car more after modding it, why can't a Civic owner feel the same joy?

As far as your second point goes: To some degree, other peoples opinion of one's car is important, but personally I don't give a bleep if you think my car isn't good looking, as long as I do. I believe most people won't care what you think of their body kit. That doesn't mean you don't have a right to say it's ugly, though.

Your right it doesn't matter what others think about your car , I was just trying to drive home a point, which by your response I think I did.

Hmm, let's put this into simple science terms(on your first point). People put wings on civics...for no reason. Civics are front wheel drive. Wings add DOWNFORCE to the rear. So, adding a big wing to fwd cars will actually take away traction from the driven wheels. Stupid. S2000 on the other hand is rear wheel drive. Wings add downforce. Hence more traction for the s2000. Shazzam. Of course, most people do not drive fast enough to need the extra downforce, but it is much more understandable to 'rice' and s2000 then a civic.
