Default Tampa Bay Caravan to WTD 08

Here's the scoop, they will honor the $59 rate wich ends up being $67.14 after taxes. This is based upon 2 people per room. It will be a charge of $10 per person per night over the two person rate.

As for the payment, I can put all of this on one person's card but I do not reccommend this as too many circumstances change. The room is not refundable due to the discount rate. The only other option that they offer is too "block" the 5 rooms and have each room be secured by the person with their own personal credit card. You must call them direct and set this in motion. Tell them is the Honda S2000 Sports Car Club group. More than the 5 identified rooms can be taken, I just don't have any other responses as yet.

Please call Mary Smith in Group Sales @ 1(800) 541-0671

BUT, once I tell them to block, you only have 48 hours to secure your room. After that, the room is released and you will not get the discount rate and will have to pay the standard $79 rate. So, my plan is to call them tomorrow morning before 9:00 AM and this means that you must call no later than 9:00 AM on Saturday to grab your room. Sorry, these are their rules, not mine.

Here is what I think we are looking at so far for the folks who spending the night at the Dillard House in Georgia on Thursday night the 17th of April; looks 5 rooms so far. If I have not heard from you, please post up.

1). Indyana (Barry)
2). Blacknot (Ron) +1
3). Kalibo (sorry, I forget??) +1
4). Twanksta (Bill) +1 and Brownsound (Brian) +1
5). Zacksdad2 (Scott) and Zacksmom (Danae)

What I can do is almost exactly like we did last year:

A). Meet on I-75 for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel at Hwy 98 (I think its exit 301 but I will confirm later), we eat, fill up the tanks and hit the road by 8:00 AM. This means that if you are going to take the time to eat, be there by 7:00 AM.
B). Take I-75 up to Macon, GA and then take 129/41 up to Clayton, GA to bunk down for the night.
C). Hit the infamous War Woman Road to start the juices flowing. Take this to Highlands NC for a brief stop, then travel Hwy 28 to Franklin NC, staying on this up to the Fontana Resort by about 1:00 PM on Friday.

Let me know your intentions ASAP as to whether or not you want to tag along and, if you will want a room with the pack.

As always.........THANX !!

Awesome Scott, glad you can do this again. There is a possibility that I won't be able to come up on Thurs with you though, as I will be flying back to Tampa that day.

I do know the rest of the crew will be though.

Put me down as Tentative.

Scott,

1) I am Glad you and Denea (Sorry SP) are going! You are officially chosen to lead, again.

2) Count me in for the Thursday departure and Thursday night room in Clayton.

3) I will be staying in Fontana Village Friday & Saturday & departing for home on Sunday morning.

4) Many of the folks on the list in the Countdown thread have not indicated if they have registered for the event (I understand you do not have to) so the list needs to be updated. As for the folks coming from the Orlando and or even points in south Florida, they could use the turnpike to meet us (Tampa crew) at Ocala off I-75.

5) I will keep the countdown thread going, feel free to copy over the attendees names and we can keep it updated in this new thread.

To give everyone some kind of an idea, the place we stayed at last year was pretty much a dive but, that is what most foks wanted, just a cheap place to shower and crash for the evening. Plus, that Italian restaurant right accross the street meant that we only had to walk to dinner, then "stumble" back to the Motel. We can get a rate there for this trip at around $51 for 2 double beds plus the state imposed 10% tax. They may charge more if 3 or 4 people take one room.

However, I am looking into a much nicer place up the road about 10 miles at the Dillard House. They have very nice accomodations that may run us about another $15 but the quality is well worth it. Too, for those that have not eaten there, the Dillard House is a famous place to eat, country style. You sit down and they just start bringing you food just like you at home. Kind of pricey though ($15 bucks, I think.....) and no alcohol

Anyway, chirp in with your thoughts as to what you want to spend and what are your expectations. We'll try to meet everyone's needs best that we can.

**If anyone has AAA, let me know. We can probably get a better rate with this organization but all rooms will have to go onto your credit card and then we will have to pay you back with cash. This can be done at the check in.

Here is a link to Dillard House: http://www.dillardhouse.com/

There is also a good touchless car wash in Clayton, no floor track or guides no brushes, great place to get the road grime off the car befroe the Friday drive to the Dragon.

I will be in this caravan with you guys.

Twanksta, I'm with you on the hotel, I can either split it 4 ways with you (me + you + our 2 passengers), or I'll sleep on somebody's floor, or I will do the unthinkable.. sleep in the s2k. I'm actually bringing an inflatable mattress so that won't happen but either of the first two will work.

Is mostly everyone leaving Sunday morning also?
