Default *** All Motor S2000 forum ***

A topic came up in the Forced Induction forum suggesting the seperation of the forum in to "Turbo" and "Supercharged" sub-forums. I personally think that all the forced induction boys (and girls?) should have a single forum.

However, I suggested that there should be a sub-forum for "All Motor" builds. Frankly, it seems odd to me that we have a forum for motorcycles, politics, and computers, on a car website that's dedicated to a car who's largest claim to fame was that it had the highest specific output of any NORMALLY ASPIRATED on the market.

- Power adders are a very small priority in the S2000 "racing and competition" forum, so I don't think that's the right place for major All Motor questions. However, a lot of people who do autoX or road race their cars would like to add more power, but forced induction isn't always the best answer for those guy. I know I don't want a laggy 600 hp S2000 if I want to go AutoX. A razor sharp 280hp could be just the ticket though.

- Making gains on just a motor can take a lot of really expensive trial and error. I know there're people out there that have made good gains though. I'm sure there're a lot of people that would love a place to research what has and has NOT worked for them

- I'm not trying to get all sappy here, but this car was designed as an all motor car. I love the idea of simply one upping what Honda produced, without changing the "soul" of the car.

Any thoughts on this? I know it's not a forum that's going to produce thousands of threads, but I think in keeping with the original theme of the car, an all motor forum makes a lot of sence. It certainly makes as much or more sence than a dedicated motorcycle sub-forum.

**Disclaimer, for the time being, the entire drivetrain of my car is completely 100% stock. I don't have any sort of turbo vs all-motor bias here. Hell, some good info in the all motor forum might just help me decide which route I want to go

Mods & parts, Under the hood, JDM tuning, Racing & competition... that's four subforums that all come to mind as the place where "all motor" is/would be discussed. I think it makes sense to go to one dedicated subforum, even if it's a part of UTH.

JDM Tuning is unofficially the NA forum. Wish it could get renamed..."JDM threads only" is not really enforced.

The JDM tuning sub-forum has more or less become the N/A forum.

I thought about UTH, but it seems like that's a very general forum. "My car's running hot". "I'm burning oil". "What cold air intake is best for me"? that's the kind of stuff that seems to fit there.

A question like "I'm running 14:1 compression on a 2.5L all motor stroker motor on ITBs, I'm looking for recommendations on cam profiles" would be completely out of place there and the thread would quickly get overrun with "Oh snap son, that schitt is mad tyte. Can I go for a ride" comments.

There's no place for serious "All Motor" guys to go. It seems like they tend to congregate in the JDM forum. But even that's not fitting.

No need to further clutter S2KI with more sub-forums.

it may not be called the N?A forum, but the JDM tuning is where most of the stuff relating to na stuff ends up.

I know, but does that make any sence at all? You can't have an All Motor FAQ section in the JDM tuning forum, and not every all motor part is made in Japan.

I will agree that the site needs some help organizing. The S2000 Gallery has become almost a General Discussion forum. I definitely think there is some stuff that could be thinned out. If you have a motorcycle, get on a dedicated motorcycle discussion forum. If you want to discuss politics, do so via a single thread in the off topic forum. Like I've said, it's just odd to me that there is no forum for All Motor S2000 builds, but there is a forum for normal everyday S2000 owners that happen to be older than the rest of us .

You know what's odd? If I would have posted this exact same poll in the S2000 gallery.... a forum that's dedicated to pictures and videos of S2000s.... it would have gone 3 pages long already. I question how much feedback I'll get in here.
