Default JVC El Kameleon KD-AVX44

I recently purchased this head unit, just wondering if anyone else had experience installing dvd head units[not pop out screens] in the stock spot. I know its going to be a really tight squeeze, just looking any hints or suggestions.

i have this HU. it will go in without any problems, only difficult part is the amount of extra wiring in the back, you'd have to push it in firmly to screw it down. however you won't be able to close your radio cover with the faceplate on.

Nice, I was hoping to hear something like that. Did you have any trouble retaining the dash controls? Did you cut the stock harness or purchase an after market one?

Dash controls will work since this has a steering remote jack, you'd need the modifry wired DCI. NEVER cut your stock harness. Buy a honda harness Harness at Crutchfield saves you time and frustration.

If this thing is anything like the older models, you can adapt the stock brackets that you are attaching to the sides to push the unit back far enough to shut the door with the face on

check this thread for a quick pic of drilled out bracket

Instead of drilling the brackets, I just used the last Nissan mounting holes in the deck.
Everything else is like what everyone said.

i installed mine about a month ago.. the hardest part about getting this hu in is figuring out how to position all the wires in the back.. i was able to get mine postioned right after several tries and i can close the radio door...word of advice.. get a screen protector... otherwise youll start to scratch the volume control area real easy
.. have fun... next step monitors for the visors and back up camera
