Either October 5th or 12th if you are taking a vote. I'm also sure if you need any help from us NY Metro Club members we are willing and able. Just let us know, since it is in our backyard.

yay! its in our (metro nyc s2000) backyard! hopefully it'll be as grand as it was in baltimore/gettysburg last year.

rick, you have to come out with some more stuff too! my car is chock full of your accessories which i bought last year at the event

if anyone needs anything from us (metro nyc) let dan or i know, and we'll help out.. hotels, places to eat, things to do, etc.. who knows, maybe we all could do a short tour of nyc and then eat somewhere in the city.. im sure we could get a discount rate (under $20) at a parking garage somewhere on the upper west side and train it downtown for food, drinks, entertainment. i think we have a nypd member among us that'll know the technicalities of holding a pre or post meeting in the city.

the only date i would be able to make would be the 19th. so that would be my vote. if you're taking names for lists, count me in.

As soon as we get the details worked out, we will be looking for volunteers to take on some specific tasks.

bkw, I like the idea of some pre-event gathering in NYC, especially for we folks coming up from down south.

The deciding factors for choosing the weekend of the 5th or 19th are two:

1. What else is going on in West Point (we already ruled out the 12th because the Army football team has a home game that weekend, and hotel space would have been very scarce, not to say traffic a huge problem).

2. The state of the Fall foliage (we are concerned that the fall colors will be too far past peak by the 19th). If anybody from the area can help us to answer this question that would be great!

More to come...

Thanks, ricosuave.

That site is just what I was hoping to find. Based on last year's patterns, the 19th looks like the peak weekend for the Bear Mountain area.
