S2KCA/S2KDays Thunderhill Track Day Cancelled: SpeedVentures/S2ki to Host Thunderhill
As most have heard by now, S2K Days to be held this June in the Sacramento, CA area has cancelled the track portion of the event. However, fear not, its spirit lives on in the body of another event. SpeedVentures' S2000 Challenge and S2000 International are hosting S2000 Madness Week, which will include the exact same two days at Thunderhill Raceway.
For those of you who already took time off, we hope you will continue to plan on coming out to California, Thunderhill, etc. It will be VERY fun. Those who already signed up for the track days will have those signups were not transferred over.
Wednesday June 19: Arrive, unpack your bags, check your tire pressures, and join us for a cocktail party.
Thursday, June 20: High Performance Driving School & S2000 Challenge Series Nationals at Thunderhill Raceway. Followed by dinner, hangout, etc.
Friday, June 21: High Performance Driving School & S2000 Challenge Series Nationals at Thunderhill Raceway. Followed by dinner, hangout, etc.
After this event, the Sacramento folks have arranged some activities for the weekend. You can read all about them here

ABOUT THE DE and S2000 Challenge:
The driver's education and S2000 Challenge components will encompass three run groups. Each driver will get 5 half hour run sessions each day, for a total of 2.5 hours of track time each day (5 hours for both days). The first run group (yellow) will not allow timing and will include all drivers who do not want timing or do not want to be in a group where timing is going on. The other two run groups (white and red) will allow timing, but timing is not mandatory for those who are worried about having timers on their car. We recommend that everyone get timing since it is a great learning tool. Given the debates occurring prior, however, we will be offering a run group which has no timing.
First timers and beginners will be limited to either the yellow or white run groups. Drivers with some experience can be in the yellow, white, or red run group, depending.
For those participating in the S2000 Challenge, transponders will be rented and you can either post your real name, a funny name, or your s2ki board name.
Those already registered with s2kca do not have to do anything, unless you want to cancel (don't do it!!). People who wish to signup should go to www.speedventures.net beginning on Friday, May 10 (hopefully we'll have registration set up by then). The price will be $155 for Thursday, $185 for Friday, and $310 for both days.
Timing can be used for educational purposes (to see how you improve throughout the day), or for the S2000 Challenge (a just for fun "comparative" event). The price is $40 to rent the transponder and get times printed out, etc. whether you are running one day or two. Those already registered through s2kca will have to rent timing if they want it. Regular S2000 Challenge/SpeedVentures members get the same deal as usual. If any of you want to take this opportunity to become a member, you can do that obviously (but it's not worth it if you're from out of state and won't be attending more than 3 of our events in one year. However, next year we will have events around the country!).
Did I forget anything? This should be the biggest best S2000 Challenge event yet. We will consider it our "National Event" and post results accordingly. There will be amazing cars, amazing drivers, and lots of excellent instructors on hand for first timers, beginners, and others looking to improve their driving skills.

Yes that's right folks. Myself/S2KI and Speed Ventures are going to be working on this together to put this event on for all of you.
The non-track activites are not required for attendance to the track, tho we would love to see you there too.
Any sugestions on something else you would like to see included? Let us know.

I'm there! My brother and I may be sharing a car...
I have a suggestion. For the beginners, we could make the first few hours in the morning a real school where we would teach them threshold braking and have them do some slalom exercises (similar to the Team Miata School back in March), but do everything in the paddock so that the more advanced groups can use the track.
