Default Restoring a S600

Not sure if this is the proper place to put this, if not please move.

A guy I work with was telling me about his 1965 S600 and how much fun it was. Ive been doing some searching about it and it looks like fun.

QUESTION:
has anyone ever tried to restore one and if some ABOUT how much did it cost.
Ive been searching for 6months now and cant find any for sale.

There's a forum member in the middle of restoring one. I did a quick search but couldn't find the thread. Maybe someone can chime in?

I know nothing about such topics (so ignore my ignorance) but whatever the cost, DO IT RIGHT. Don't skimp. Take your time. Do it right.

AND POST PICS!!!!!!!

Based on my experience on other restos and if you haven't done a major one before --

Figure out your budget in every detail, including whatever sweat equity skills you may have. Then double it. Seriously.

haha yes, I KNOW ALL ABOUT DOUBLING my estimates...I just don't squek it to the wife=P

When I estimated my turbo build for my GSR it was around 2k. So I figured(from the past) ok so it will probably really be like 4,500.
Total cost was $4,600...not to bad

I pm'ed medicalstudent.

I think right now the hardest part is trying to find one
Id have the S600 match my S, Berlina Black.

My favorite pic is this.
