here's some pics of a couple pieces i retro fitted, including the '02 center console piece, and the '02 footrest, so although a b*tch to install, they fit.






next i'm going to install a '02 defroster switch, but i need a whole new wiring harness since the switch does not hook up to the regular defroster switch in the '00s and '01s, if anyone can can me the pic from the '02 helm manual of the dash wiring harness, that would be helpful since i'm not sure that all the other plugs will work

then, if my set doors that have been on order for 2 months now would come in, i'm going to replace the red inserts on a set '01s to a set of black '02s w/ tweeter mounts, so i'll have a red leather interior w/ black carpet + stock tweeter mounts!

 

Your car is coming along nicely. I noticed two buttons right behind the cup holder with your keys. What are the buttons? I have an '01 and that area is just a rectangular slot that I actually throw change in or the Nokia. Curious.

those are the buttons you get when you add the hardtop, ones for the defroster, the other is just a blank, however, i'm trying to wire the '02 switch on the dash, i have the switch, but i need still need to get the wiring harness, which ends up being the harness for the entire dash, so i want to see if the other plugs will connect before i buy it, i've also tried hooking up the new switch to the existing defroster harness, but it doesn't fit, after i move the defroster switch, i'll probalby place my edfc there , thats if the motors for the system fits on our cars?

How hard was it to install the footrest? I heard u have to cut the carpet.

 

not sure about the footrest, i had my dealer install that one, but i don't think you need to cut the carpet, you do have to take off the side pieces so you can lift the carpet up, and put the new backing under it, after that, the '02 footrest just snaps on top, but it's worth it if you're going after the stock look, as for the center console, i had to cut the carpet piece that went under the dash so that i didn't have to remove the whole damn dash, but the that piece remaining is actually nicer than the '02, since the '01/'02 is charcoal carpet, that piece on the '02 is just some hard black felt piece.
