Default Hood dampers - Who has them?

I'm getting really tired of the crappy fitment of the prop rod into the Comptech airbox so I'm thinking about getting a set of hood dampers.

Any suggestions? Additionally how difficult are they to install?

After almost 5 years of ownership I too grew tired of the awkward reaching at times and said "What the heck..." and ordered a set. I read the British threads about the cheaper eBay dampers as well as looking at all the commercial products. Best to my way of thinking were the 1/2 pressure NRG HD-140 silver-chrome dampers. Installation was a breeze given the standard caveats of compressing the dampers multiple times to lube the internals up a bit before installing them.

I've since removed that black band with the NRG logo for a cleaner look. The units work great as I can have the hood stay in the OEM position or have it near vertical. I'm very happy with them. They fall into the same category as the keyhole caps I recently got.... I simply don't know why I waited so long.

As an aside I exchanged e-mails with Ming Tai, the guy who makes IxizHood - Pneumatic HoodLifters (http://www.ixizconcept.com/) for other cars, inquiring about whether his product would be available for the S2000. He is amenable and is looking for a couple volunteers to test S2000 prototypes. Very nice products and volunteers would get a great deal. Unfortunately by the time we established contact I'd already ordered my NRGs. Otherwise I would have queued up with him based on the feedback I see for him on other car forums. Normal disclaimer applies here to both the NRG and IxizHood Lifters.

Thanks guys!

Those are the two I'm considering. Now to run this through the budget committee.

Bob,

An off topic query, did you paint the cooling plate yourself? Did it require any additional prep for painting other than surface prep? Now back to the topic.

Steven,

Nope. Got it already painted sebring silver over carbon fiber by ImportTuningGarage. The other side is still carbon fiber. Seems this one had a very minor weave flaw, hence the paint and a substantial discount. I'm not a carbon fiber kind of guy so this matching look really pleased me.

Raymo19,

I got my NRGs in early July on sale for $113.30 shipped from sponsor importi2acer (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=596714).
