i'd probably consult your father about learning to drive a standard transmission (manny tranny). if you already know how to drive then learning the fundamentals should be a week and after two weeks you should be a veteran...

Ask someone who knows how to drive stick, like your dad, to take you to an empty parking lot to practice. Just keep practicing getting the car to roll from a stand still until your feet get use to the clutch. Then you can try shifting on small streets in your neighborhood.

The tow hook cover is missing? As for driving manual... First is always the hardest but once you get that you'll get the rest of the gears.

Definitly go to a parking lot where your not going to hit anything. It is frustraiting as first but once you get it, you won't go back.

Be prepared to replace the clutch in the future (but that is why they are replaceable). Have fun!

It really depends on the individual you're talking about (as well as the instructor and, to some degree, the car). Some people pick it up very quickly. Others take forever. Learn where along the clutch pedal it starts to grab. Start off without even touching the gas pedal. Just push in the clutch pedal, shift into first and then gently lift on the pedal until the car smoothly moves forward. Repeat as necessary until you can get it moving smoothly every time. Once you've got the hang of that you can move on to giving it some throttle. The rest of the gears are easy.

That happens on low slung cars like the S -- regardless of whether you speed or not. Expect to get more if you drive it at all.

Strange how your dad would buy you a manual transmission car when you don't know how to drive stick...
Does your dad not know you can't drive stick?
