Blasphemy?....what do you think?
Review of the 2009 RX8 Wankel engine by Edmunds.com:
"The engine will spin to 9,000 rpm faster than you can say 'rev limiter' and feels more willing at high rpm than even Honda's S2000 because of the rotary's phenomenal smoothness."

so...ok...It wasnt me that was smoking some
it was Edmunds....smoking some of that
. Most definately a long shot comparison of very dissimilar engines.
Thanks for your reply Kart. I just fealt when I read that review, that Edmunds was taking a cheap shot at our beloved S2000s.

Blasphemy hardly. The Renesis revs is definitely smoother to the red line. I feel like the F20C is going to blow up when revving to 9000rpm but i do prefer the F20C aggressive cam switch over.
It's slower because the RX8 weighs more. I bet if you put the Renesis into the S2000 and the F20C/F22C into the RX8, the Rx8 would be slower.
Although the RX8 is slower, it pretty handles wells. It's almost like a 4 door S2000, but I have to say the S2000 is more fun.

yes, indeed. while the F20 was designeed to go to 9000, it wasn't particularly designed to sound and feel like it should go to 9000. but i guess that's just the nature of a reciprocating engine.
i dun knock on rotaries and am sort of annoyed when other people do (not that i've seen anyone do it here). that engine has come a long way and there could still be away to go. progress would be much better if more car companies R&D'd. but yes, i know that they did do that... and most of them dropped anymore R&D on the rotary engine.
but what an engine... lol.
still love my S2K, though.
