Thumbs down My AEM Water/Methanol Injection Install

Ok guys, after my Fiance surprised me with the AEM Meth kit a little bit ago I was able to finally install it with my buddy who installed my Turbo, I am very lucky this type of stuff is like changing oil

The kit comes with a ! Gallon tank that I was going to install in the Trunk, as well as the Pump but I opted to use the OEM Washer Tank in the Fender with some slight Mods.(Windshield Washer is still functional for use on my Windshield)

The Removal of the Front Fender is extremely easy and took 5 Minutes, just remove the Blinker, the few Bolts on top and the Plastic Rivets on the inside of the Wheelwell, also I recommend removing your wheel, much easier to get in and out of there!

I am just going to post some pics of what I did, the step by step is basically connecting the different color wires to other colored wires (DIRECTIONS are very self explanatory and very easy) SORRY FOR THE SMALL TEXT, TOO LAZY TO FIX DONT KNOW WHY PICS ARE SO SMALL

The wheel makes a Great Table too

This is what you should expect to see when you remove the Fender.

The Modified Tank

The Pump. The red wire connects to the Battery and dont forget to get an inline Fuse for 15AMPS, DOES NOT COME WITH THE KIT!

We ran all the wires, as well as the VACUUM line through then fender, so it would exit more or less by the Passengers Feet, I did have to drill a hole for the Vacuum line, the wires we just snaked through a hole in the rubber grommet.

Make sure you tap into a Vacuum line that is independent from the Line that supplied the BOOST Gauge.

All of the wires that connect to the pump, and the Vacuum line come out by the passenger side foot panel, simply connect the wired and VAC line to the AEM Controller

The Nozzle can be Welded by either using a 1/8 threaded Bung, or do what we did and simply use a "self-tap", or whatever its called, it took 2 minutes and it is very secure.

Inside View

The system needs to be activated by and on/off switch, at least 12V, The Kit does not come with one, but Autozone or Napa, or any of the car places have them for a few bucks, I installed mine in a somewhat hidden place.

The Kit (my favorite part) comes with a little Green LED that comes on when the Pump is activated and brightness with intensity as the Flow increases, very cool, I just put mine in the pod that holds my Boost Gauge, looks great at night

Ok, simply Tie-Wrap all the loose wires, throw the Fender on and your off, there is a Test feature that pumps the stuff when the car is off just to see if the pump is in fact working, make sure you have something close by, it SHOOTS out a lot of fluid.

Here is a pic of the Engine pay with everything put back together, pretty clean for the most part, just ignore the VALVE cover PAINT

Please ask any questions, I know I have left out a lot of detail, but this is a basic How-To, as far as the performance goes, My car is no longer Detonating in VTEC (that clicky sound is gone), and I feel VTEC again, pulls very strong up high. After a few WOT runs the Charge pipe was COLD, and the Intake was cool!!!!!! I am installing my Berk HFC on Monday and going for a Tune Mid, November.

-20 Peak Windsheild Washer Fluid is what I am using.

Its nice to see a positive post from you Joe good write up bruva

Let us know when your tune is done and show us the numbers. I'm interested to know because another member of our club did this mod with no power gains at all. But it sounds like your setup might show something different

haha oh boy, even if I gained 0HP, I would be happy with the Detonation suppression alone

I'd like to see the results too. I have been thinking of getting one of these setups but wanted to see the results of someone with a similar setup to mine. Good Luck!

Thanks car feels so strong in VTEC

A few questions i have for some of the brainiacs on here

1) If the ECU advances Timing when the flow starts (5psi in my case) to adjust for the cooler charge, does the timing stay advanced when it is not spraying, say pre-5psi, or does the ECU adjusting timing, real-time?

2) The kit says you should start the flow at 25% of your max boost, mine is set to come on at 5 psi, but I have thought about having it spray at 2.5psi, but that would mean it would be on during most day to day acceleration, is that bad?
