Default Why is my car turning off?

When I am driving and I come to a stop my car will just rev so low that it shuts off and I have to restart it. Any idea why it is doing this? I tried reseting the ECU by unhooking the battery for 10 mins then re-hooking it up. All that has been done since this problem started was replacing my already aftermarket radio with another and replacing the radio fuse with a 20v instead of a 15.

or try cleaning it out.. wiht carb cleaner... brake cleaner works too.. but not as good as carb cleaner... sounds like it wont idle... but since u say... since uve did the radio.. i had same prob other day.. and my ground terminal was off the battery... so when i hit bumps.. and would jump around... then car would just shut off.. simple fix

No, he means when you messed with the radio, you may've taken off the battery terminal. On the battery itself. And now it may be loose. Just check it.

But seriously, IAC valve cleanup is such an easy and worthwhile thing to do. And it will eliminate one very possible cause!

You getting a CEL? If problem is really bad, OBD2 should throw a code to tell you what's wrong. Without a code, you just have to start trying things - from the easy stuff to the harder.

If no CEL code to go by, then clean throttle body and IAC valve (bypass around throttle flap) with gunk or seafoam brand cleaner. You might also try adding some good injector cleaner (Chevron or Redline) to your fuel tank. Check and/or change spark plugs if this doesn't help.

If you still have problem, then check fuel pressure at idle, should be 45 psi. Then check ignition timing if necessary. Bad O2 sensor and/or TPS sensor readings would be last things to check. These last few steps require special equipment and may be better left to a professional.

well, i cleaned the IACV, the throttle body, used fuel injector cleaner, got new spark plugs about 2 months ago, and reset the ECU. let it idle for about 10 mins, then took it out for a spin. the car ran amazing for about 10 mins then at one stop, it shut off and the CEL came back on. everystop after that it just reved really low (like 1 or 2 bars) then slowly came back up to around 1k rpms. Does the ECU need to have more time to figure things out?

Also, where can i get the code pulled for my CEL beside a dealer?

Please put the correct fuse back in. It was designed to be a 15A fuse for a reason. Do you really want to have an electrical fire or piss off the electrical gremlins?
