Default Rattle Issue: "clicking" sound behind drivers seat

I'm having this really annoying clicking sound that's coming behind the driver's seat (my driver's seat is on the right side). It sounds like one's tapping a screw against some metal lightly, and the rattle does come up very frequently.

This is different from the clicking sound from the soft top. The frequency is higher, and the rattle is there when the top is down too. This rattle is annoying the hell out of me ... so hoping to see if anyone has any insight to what this is.

I've removed everything from the trunk, and am in the process of removing the glove compartment and some panels (though the noise sounds more like it's coming from the side rather than the middle), but it's extremely difficult to find out where the rattle is coming exactly from given i can't really turn around to listen while driving ...

I've even tried banging panels hoping to find out what's loose ..but no luck ...

Seatbelt squeaking on the leather just above your right shoulder? It's very common, and very annoying.

So you removed the spare tire? The locknut will get loose and rattle...

Everything in the trunk is emptied out, including spare tire .. ya ... that lock nut does squeek sometimes, but I could live with that

It's not the seatbelt either .... I do have velcro to shut that up

This particular rattle is annoying because it happens frequently. You know the infamous soft top click only comes it everything second or two in REALLY bad roads, but this one would click for a few times in the span of, say, 2 seconds. Extremely annoying.

I don't mind too much when my secret compartment rattles, because it doesn't rattle in such high frequency / often. But this weird noise really does p*ss me off.

Ya ... that's the infamous soft top click ... the soft top click is louder, but doesn't click so many times in, say, 10 seconds

mine is very annoying ... clicks more frequently, although not as loud ...

I too have one that defies location. It occurs anytime the rpms = 2,700. It seems to come from behind the passenger's seat at head level, but despite all attempts to pin it down I'm stumped. It's not anything in the truck as I've completely stripped it and tried sequentially wrapping foam around anything that might even resonate and still no luck. please help before I go off my rocker!!!!

sounds like we have the same problem ... since your passenger side if my driver's side ... and it feels very similar, except mine doesn't just occur @ 2700rpm

Up front, this is a long shot. Most of the clicks I have experienced were either caused by the soft top tapping the glass under buffeting at speed or from the soft top frame itself, both of which you have ruled out. When I first got the car I noticed these small panels would rattle a bit when I would drum on them with my fingers.

I popped them off, put a little fuzzy velcro along the edges, no more rattle. If you are really at a loss and they click when you tap them you could just painters tape them as a test and go for a drive. If i recall, the screw comes out and then you can try to slide them to the rear and they will un-clip. I used a screwdriver underneath to reach the post they snap onto and popped them up because it was not clear how they were attached until I removed them. If you go this route, just make sure you get all the way to the base of the post or you could snap the panel. You may want to price them and be sure this is the cause before you risk it. To replace them, drop them into the groove about an inch rearward and slide them forward under the top trim and they will clip back onto the post. Obviously this is driving you nuts, hope you work it out.
