Honda makes cuts to car lines, kills S2000

Small article with little information, but the notions are synonymous with a "deathblow" to anything more fun than a boiled broccoli dinner.

Oh noes. Would Honda just stop making the S2000 already? It's not helping resale value any. 2000 MY2008 sold last year and this year will be worse.
Honda is just becoming like GM, only caring about short-term costs and not willing to spend money on R&D and no longer the innovative leader it once was.

Source Autocar article says the S2000 will die this year. Hopefully this is the last time we here "this is the last year of the S2000." I've seen this sentence in articles before.
It also says the S2000 successor and CR-Z based convertible are being scrapped. However, it implies that the CR-Z will still be coming. This is a good thing. I think that with what the world economy could bring, it's a good idea for Honda to revive the small and affordable sport compact market.

I made another thread, I didn't realize this was discussed already. Here is my post from the other tread.

Also, you can see the S2000 sales for 2008 were abysmal. Especially bad when Honda overall sales were only down 6% from 2007.
December 2008 vs. 2007 S2000 Sales dropped from 210 to 72. (-65.7%)
Year to Date 2008 vs. 2007 dropped 41.2% from 4302 to 2538.
Not a good thing especially with the new CR model.

Farewell.
