Default So I installed my stealthbox...Only problem now is the rattling....

Hey guys I recently had my car hooked up with JL's 10' w3 and was wondering if there was any way I could stop the rattling that is comming from my trunk. It seems that the rattling is comming from the trunk release component. When I turned up the volume and the power of the sub I notice that it rattles from the trunk. While holding down on the trunk release component the rattling stopped. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get rid of this rattling? I was thinking of going to my local hardware shop and picking up some aligator clips to hold the component together so that the rattling will at least decrease. Would this mess anything up? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Use black electrical tape to cover the u-shaped thingy. Eliminate all metal on metal. Do the same for the glovebox, and you might want to put some tape behind the license plate...but that's just so that you don't look like a fool...you won't hear it inside the car.

Wesmaster thanks for your input I did what you said and covered the u shape thingy with the black electrical tape. I also taped up the back of my plate. The rattling has decreased but still isn't eliminated. Is there any way to eliminate the rattling?? Well I was told by a couple of people that the sub's aiming up and shakes up the whole top end of my trunk and that's probably why it's rattling. I am happy that the tape worked out though so for that I'm glad you helped me out but... the rattling is still there when I turn up the volume any higher. Anything else I can do??
thanks

Just listen for the rattling and find it...then tape it up. I was able to get rid of all my rattling. The back shelf where the soft top sits when down also rattles...you'll have to do something about that (I took mine out).

You could try Dynomat. It is made to stop rattling in your trunk, and in your car. Any car audio place should have access to some. Supposedly it works pretty well.

IMHO dynomat is overkill in our car. I was able to eliminate all rattling without it. If for some reason you can't get it to stop, then yes, dynomat is very good.

Someone posted about how to get rid of the rattling before. You should remove the back plastic wall in the convertible well right below the plastic window.
Here are the steps to find that plastic piece:

From inside the car, you are facing the plastic window.
Then look right below the window before the well, there is a plastic wall piece with 3 plastic screws. Remove the screws, the plastic wall and the noise should goes away.

Now that it's fixed, how does it sound? Was it worth the money and the lost trunk space and where did you put the amp?

I like the JL in my Acura; just wondering if they work for the S2000.

Thanks.

Now that it's fixed I feel that it's worth the money and the lost trunk space. I still have space to put things in my car and I placed the amp on the left side of my trunk.
