I found someone who will assemble the radio door gauge cluster I made for my car and Reedz's, so we're thinking of offering a one-time GB on them.

Here are some photos:

The gauges are Nordskog Street Series digital, with a red read-out and high reading indicator. We can make up a cluster with virtually any guage, from oil pressure, oil temperature, and transmission temperature to boost pressure, fuel pressure, and even a clock. Here are some of the gauge faces:

The full functionally of the radio door is maintained.

A fully assembled gauge cluster with your choice of gauges will cost about $1,100, including sensors and any necessary adapters. The cluster will come ready to hook up, with plugs to connect leads to the sensors and power. Buyers will be responsible for connecting and wiring the underhood sensors and making all connections to the gauge cluster itself.

A deposit of $500 will be required, with the balance to be paid when the cluster ships. We estimate 10-12 weeks lead time to assemble and ship each cluster from the time an order is placed.

Please email me at hesel@artsci.com if you are seriously interested.

Who's game?

A few questions regarding the install.

-How involved would it be to attach the sensors or connect the leads to the proper position in the car?
-Is removal of the dash necessary?
-How much time would you estimate the install to be for someone who is not very mechanically adept (myself), but is able to follow directions?

Thanks

Shing,

There are four gauges in the deal -- any ones from the extensive list offered by Nordskog. It is pricey -- parts alone are $500 - 600 and there is much involved and time-consuming hand labor.

puremagik,

No, the dash does not have to be removed, just the head unit door assembly, which basically involves removing a few clips. The trick is in attaching the new door with the gauges to the door assembly (which I've decided we will do -- that is we'll provide the gauges already mounted in the door, and the whole thing mounted into the door assembly). Attaching and wiring up the sensors requires no really special skills. Just basically wiring stripping, attaching clips and the like, running leads through the bulkhead, screwing things down. More than anything else, it requires time, care, and the patience to do it right.

Jeez I have always loved that setup... OK, you will supply all parts, wires, etc. All I need to do is install the door and run wires? From your experience.. how long of a job is my part?
Thanx Rick for the offer.

Edge,

Yes, that's "all" you have to do. It is not difficult, but it does take some time. I work pretty slow, and I put about 6-7 hours total into mounting the sensors, cabling the leads into the engine bay, and the like. Somebody more skilled could do it a lot faster.

The console covers are shipping like crazy right now. We expect that all but the most recent orders will have shipped by the end of the week.

Thanx again for the reply Rick...
Is this really gonna happen? I am very interested, but 10/12 weeks is forever when you are waiting on something.... especially when you are as impatient as I am... On another note.. I am comin through your area soon..( coming to devour some crabs!) do you have a shop or do you work out of the house? Would love to see this in person.. Of course and to meet you as well
Looking forward to the console cover... you market some great ideas. Keep it up!

Edge,

It will happen if enough people plunk down a deposit. Otherwise, nada.

I like to have S2000 visitors, but I don't have a shop or anything like it, since Rick's is just a sideline. I make my real living from a consulting business that has nothing to do with cars. I ususally meet people at my office, which is convenient to all the major highways.

Let me know when you get to town.
