Talking S2K Challenge Series #3 Results - 3/6/09 - SOW

The third S2K Challenge race was held on 3/6/09 at the Streets of Willow track in the Willow Springs International Motorsports Park. This is a very challenging and technical road course, and very popular among S2000 drivers. It is 1.8mile course consisting of 12 tight turns, a chicane section, and two straightaways. Today

I think my 7-year, 25,500-mile old tires are done. These front tires were on the car since new, and have lasted me 5 track days. So long...

I just uploaded my time trial video on YouTube. If anyone has any pointers, they are much appreciated . My best time of the day was during the time trial and it was a 1:31.9, I believe.

Thanks for another awesome event. BTW, Ed, I forgot to pay you for the t-shirts. Can we pay when we pick them up?

PAGING WILLIAM!!!

I quote this from the other thread:

[QUOTE]I remember watching the Spoon NSX and the Mine GTR hit 1:25.X at SOW. If anyone hits 1:24.X at SOW this weekend with "street" tires, I will personally buy you (William) KBBQ Friday night!

Great turn out today.

So I went off in tremendous fashion backwards over the bowl @ 75mph+ (air borne, BIG pucker moment). Completely flat spotted all my tires (they're toast) and lost my balls (timing was perfect too, just before the time attack ). Long story short, I'm somewhat pleased that I was able to at least match my fast lap of the day, a 1:29.3 in order to clinch 2nd. I think I could have dipped in the 28's if I hadn't blotched the bowl.

Would like to thank Billy, Mark, Ed, Jeff, AJ and everybody else for a great day.

Thanks! This was my first time out at SOWS, so I had no idea how I'd do. I did know that Emilio and Dino would pretty much clinch 1st and 2nd place in Street, and later towards the afternoon my times started to drop from 1:38s to high 1:32s. I saw that I Dustin's times were in the low 1:32s so I figured if I could break 1:32 I would finish in the money. I managed a 1:31.9 but... little did I know about the wild card entry, Joel!

Was tons of fun out there and it was a pleasure meeting all of you guys again. Caravan to Willows, anyone?

Wow, Emilio of 949racing set a street tire record in a "street" class car. beating out everybody in mods except for 2 in r-comp tires (even then not by much). That's just awesome driving !!
