I have checked through some threads on here but haven't really found my problem.

Randomly my rear right brake just started squeaking. It is pretty loud and the squeak sounds like rubber rubbing against wood. Like basketball players shoes sound on a wood court. The noise is constant, applying the brakes has no effect on it.

I took the wheel and caliper off yesterday and looked it all over, everything seemed fine. I tried depressing the caliper and it went in very easily. So i reassembled everything and took the car out. The problem had gone away, but today its back.

If i park for 10-15 mins and then go again the noise seems to disappear for awhile..

From the other threads i have read it seems like they pads may be rubbing?

another thing i noticed, while going in reverse the sound is not present.

 

Sounds temperature-sensitive since it only starts happening after 15 minutes. Maybe something's warping in the heat and then rubbing the rotor? Brake line? Are your rotors on tight?

 

I have not checked that. The only thing i have done to the brake on that side is change the pads, but that was a month or two ago..

Something i dont understand is the fact that the noise remains the same even when i apply the brake.

 

The way you described that is not possible.

 

Did you add the anti squeak stuff to the back of the pad?

 

i did add the anti squeak stuff. For the rear caliper i used the tool to twist the caliper and it didnt seem to be frozen or stuck, just depressed normally.

 

If your wheels are on shouldn't your rotors already be on tight as a result?

 

I touched the rotors tonight, shortly after the noise began. On the side the noise is coming from the rotor is considerably hotter. This leads me to believe that their is drag, but why only when the brakes heat up..

 

Last Sunday i took apart both rear calipers, they are nearly identical. I found no abnormalities in the passengers side rotor. One corner of the passengers side break pad seemed to be worn alot, so i changed the rear pads. I changed them out with cheap pads until i could get oem pads. This seemed to fix the problem but Tuesday the noise came back. I hadnt even drove 100 miles and it came back.

I'm thinking im going to have to take it to honda and pay their horrible fees lol.

 

you're sure it's not wheel bearing squeak? when mine went bad it started just like that. only squeals once it's gotten hot.
