Hood pins are only required in situations where you've removed the OEM latching mechanism (such as a "race car" where weight is a large factor).

So if you have the factory latch mechanism you should have nothing to worry about??

All carbon hood manufactures will tell you that hood pins are required weather or not you have the factory latch or not. There have been instances where the factory latch would fail with the aftermarket hood, so they say this for liability reasons.

im not sure about that.

the last time i look at the mugen and the asm hood carbon hood did not require one. (but then again i cant read JAPANESE)

(i guess that's what happen when you buy cheap aftermarket parts.)

^^agreed. Well engineered aftermarket parts like ASM/Mugen/J's Racing are much less likely to fail than knock-off brands. Ive owned a few carbon hoods and its easy to tell between real JDM(or other quality pieces) by how they bond the outer shell and inner bracing together.
