Thumbs down NJMP Karting Meet

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=S...0#entry15993870

Hey!

I'm from the metro nyc part of the forum, and I was organizing a karting meet at NJMP, to hopefully take place June 7th. The date is still subject to change, and when I invited del-val, they told me to post this over here too. It promises to be a large meet - many members are expressing interest in going down there and doing the mini grand prix, for instance. If you are interested, please respond in the thread at the link above - in some time, I'll also contact NJMP and perhaps get a discount group pricing as well.

I'm sure some of you know, but this seems to be a world class facility with karts that reach 55mph around a large outdoor track. One track is over one mile long, but I'm not sure what tracks they run on.

Hope to see some of you there!

I will be up at Fort Dix around this timeframe so I'll gladly represent the SOVA group at the event.

I called and updated my original post with this information - please read and respond!!

SCHEDULE PLEASE READ

I called up NJMP and reserved a spot for 9:30am on Sunday, June 7th - this means people should be at the track at 9:00am to get the race brief out of the way if we are to start racing at 9:30. A mini grand prix typically takes about three hours, I was told - but that does not mean that one group will have to wait three hours until the other group is finished - the lady I spoke with said that groups can run one after the other - but combined total, including the class and brief, should be around three hours. The groups will be of fourteen racers each. If I understood correctly, the total amount of time for 50 or so people will be around six hours of racing - so it's almost like a mini track day. Not bad for $80. I was told that the track opens at 8:00am - would the del-val guys and the mid-a guys like to run earlier? I believe I can make a reservation for 8:00am too. Then the northerners can filter in a tad later at 9ish - depending on how many del-val + mid a guys there are, this could be a possibility. Either way, if the track is booked for 8:00, I'll be there at 8:00.

Please chime in with your thoughts - I need to know everyone's opinion and if I should book the track for 8 as well. As I understand it, however, racers can show up and race anytime, they will just be with random people who show up.

Bump! Judging from the interest, there should be a very nice turnout.
