Default No Trip Counter / Odometer

Hello!

I have a very strange problem, my trip counter and odomter are no longer displaying on the dash.

When you turn the ignition on, all the numbers light on while the dash does it's self check but neither the trip counter or odometer display (no numbers at all).

The "trip a" indicator shows up, but can't be switched to "trip b". Everything else works perfectly.

I had thought it was possible that a data cable may have come out of the back of the clocks unit but I've just got the car back from its service and they can't find anything wrong on that front.

The garage even suggested posting on the forums to see if anyone has seen such an issue before.

So if anyone has any ideas what it could be I'm all ears, otherwise I guess I'll have to replace the clocks.

Ta!

Could it be the light/lcd light/fuse?

A connection?

I suspect a problem with the cluster.

I cant see a problem with the VSS as you are getting data through.

Sorry i cant be anymore help.

G'day Sport,

If your cluster has a problem then take it out and send it to this bloke.

http://www.marklamond.tsohost.co.uk/

Mark is a great help and knows the S2000 cluster like the back of his hand.

Drop him an email with photos and explain your problem, I am 100% sure he'll have an answer for it.

Cheers
Kiwi

What I did forget to say is that before it went completely the trip counter went through a short period of gaining / losing lots of miles.

I'll drop Mark a line, sounds like he's just the chap! Thanks.

Yeah, since the garage confirmed nothing has fallen out of the back I suspect the cluster too. I'm fairly sure the LEDs / fuses are OK as the numbers all display while the cluster POSTs when you turn the ignition on.

I believe the cluster was new in 2006 (when the car was imported) too!

If it's a new cluster you end up needing then you could do worse than one of these:

Since orange-on-black is the optically clearest contrast, why on earth would one want to change it to a nearly-illegible blue?
