Default 05 NFR Full Detail

Purchased my s2k about a month ago. The previous owner took great care of it and kept the paint concealed with a lot of wax. As I've washed it a few times the blemishes were starting to rise up. Mild paint correction was necessary to make the paint perfect again.

Supplies:
Optimum No-Rinse wash
Meguires Clay bar
Porter Cable with:
1z Intensive Polish with Orange LC Pad
1z High Gloss Polish with White LC Pad
1z Final Finish with Gray LC Pad
1z Glanz Wax with Blue LC Finishing Pad

1z Cockpit to give the interior a nice matte finish
Raggtop Protectant to keep the soft top looking new
Stoner's Glass Cleaner
Lots of Uber Microfiber towels

A lot of the paint correction was for light surface scratches. However, there was also some swirling on the rear bumper. The light scratches were impossible to capture on camera. Onto the pics

Supplies Used:

Before:

Rear Bumper Swirls

After:

Trunk lid where the light scratches were most concentrated After

Unfortunately the way I parked when I took the afters I wasn't able to capture good shots showing the correction on the rear bumper. I plan on getting those and adding to my post to show the drastic difference.

Overall, I'm pleased with the results. The pictures don't show how much nicer the paint is because I couldn't capture the light surface scratches on camera prior to working.

Great job. I am doing my silverstone next week and hope it comes close to looking like yours.

What products are you using?

Silver is more difficult to bring out a deep shine.

Just curious but did you end up with a lot of red on your pads? When I did my 06 using basically the same method they were covered. Seems to be a common occurrence with NFR.

Came out great.

As far as the color transfer, ots typical of this paint. I have only detailed one red car before, and it was a MY00 in NFR. I heard that they dye the clear for this color. not sure so dont quote me on that.

Yes, the first picture is after I was completely finished. You can see the white pad turned red and the orange pad also turned red. The black pad had a slight pink hue and the blue pad did as well but I think that was because the Glanz wax is a pepto bismo color.

Phil, want to chime in as to what that means?

^we have a pigmented clear-coat on our NFRs, so they tend to turn pads pink from the clear-coats residue. BTW - beautiful work. nothing like an S that looks like a red pool to dive into

Using the Blackfire Wet Ice over Fire Process. Clay bar, polish, 2 coats of Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection and 2 coats of Midnight sun ivory carnauba wax. Shine looks great for silver and I may apply another coat of wax followed up by their Deep gloss spray sealant.
