Unhappy My first crash...

Had my first nasty incident tonight and need to know what could have been damaged!

My mate Dave (usually a good driver who is used to a tuned Pulsar) lost the back end going round a junction at 20mph in first, giving it a lot.

The back left wheel slipped into the kerb with a big bang and the impact has gouged a three inch section quite badly right next to the tyre. I drove home and there were no suspect noises or nasty vibrations coming from the back left. The wheel still looked well aligned and it drove perfectly.

But what I want to know is what could've been damaged suspension-wise (or diff ) and where to get it checked - would a Honda dealer do or do I need a specialist?

One thing, I've seen roughly where the limit is and I am well within it!

Cheers lads and ladies, Tom.

1. Take to Honda Garage
2. Explain you let your friend thrash your car
3. Take bill to friend.

My thoughts exactly.

Get a mechanic to check it over followed by a geo

+2

Take it to Honda, most importantly get a look underneath, you may have knocked the geo out.

Oh that's brought back memories - does anybody else remember the Pulsar thread from ages ago!

Irrespective of how many horses he has shoehorned under the bonnet the Pulsar is FWD or 4WD for the GTI-R.

The S2000 is RWD with an LSD. If you put tight(ish) lock on and give it a dab of throttle, it WILL break loose with exactly this result... Can't say I'm massively suprised!

Anyhoo, +1 for the "take it to honda for a damage assessment" plan.

Even if Hond claim it's fine except the alloy, take it elsewhere and have the geo looked at. My local Honda garage are pants at setting up the Geo and will simply bring it "in limits" iaw the MASSIVE envelope dictated by the original spec. Within this envelope are settings for my granny at one end and for hardened track addicts at the other. There is no predicting what they'll give you.

But... other Honda stealers may be better than my local!

Take it to an alignment specialist and get the geo checked. They'll soon see if the NSR is out compared to the OSR and more importantly compared with the settings you need for your style of driving.

If it drove home without any strange wobbles coming from the rear then you may have got away with it.

When I hit the kerb with mine it felt like I was driving on jelly at the back. Admittedly I was going sideways AND backwards at the time and doing nearer 40mph!

I had to have; new Control arm
