Default Fidanza flywheel vs. ACT flywheel vs. OEM

My mechanic insists that I stay with the OEM flywheel. But I've read that Fidanza and ACT flywheels would be good upgrades. Any thoughts?

I like my act. depends on what you want to do. You need to be precise with the clutch and shift at the right tempo if lighter. Are you in a AP1 or AP2?

It's an 2003 AP1. Mainly ust looking for better responsiveness on the streets.

It helps a little when you're shifting or rev matching, but it doesn't make the car faster. You're already running a 12lbs flywheel, and the prolite is 9lbs. I like it, but it's a nice chunk of change.

it also might be a little tricky to launch.

I would honestly stay with your OEM flywheel. Now if you were an AP2, then I would drop the money for a new one.

ap1's are already light so stick with OEM. Lighter than 11 lbs will be annoying to drive as ap1's are already super quick shifting machines

False. I don't know why people keep spreading this rumor. It's only 3lbs lighter.

i had an 8lb fidanza flywheel in my prelude, along with there kevlar 4puck sprung hub clutch. i liked that setup alot! however, in and ap1, i dont think the difference in weight between the OEM and act/fidanza is worth the trouble or money.

I've got an 8lbs fidanza in my ap1 and I love it. Shifts are a lot quicker and it's easier to heal toe at higher revs because it revs like a bat out of hell when the clutch is in. For day to day driving not much difference but you can definitely hear wining during decel while in gear. That's the only drawback and it's more noticeable than most cars because the tranny is right next to you.
