Default Stock air box mod.

So I decided to gut the air box to get a better sound from the intake and hopefully better throttle response. Lol. I'll be getting a K&N air filter too.

Here are the pictures:

Before:

After:

I used an old flimsy steak knife that I had which wasn't such a good idea as it flexed a lot. Tried using a demel but I couldn't get a good angle to work with so I continued with the knife. After sawing a bit I used a pair of pliers and broke it off in small pieces. Took me longer than I expected as the plastic is pretty damn tough.

I'm guessing the 2 smaller holes are the drain holes. Should I make them bigger?

I still have to sand it down a little more to get it smooth and flush with everything.

I didn't do the cover yet because I don't know how I should go about removing the elbow scoop.

Alright, so I managed to remove the elbow scoop using a wire cutter and just started cutting away at the studs. Came off really easily. The top part of the divider came out easily too. I just grabbed it with pliers and broke it off. Luckily it broke off flush.

Also now that the divider is gone, should I put mesh on the front intake hole to prevent stuff from getting in?

All that's left is to get the K&N filter...

Any idea as to how I should remove those? I'm think about drilling them out.
I just used a large pair of pliers and yanked it off. Heres a picture of my old intake.

Thanks. Should I bother with blocking off the hole to the resonator chamber?

Yes block off the resonator chamber with some aluminum tape.. ^ snorkel might not be as effective without the elbow on the lid..

why not just use the stock drop in k&N and keep the L shaped air guide?

it's directing air str8 onto the top of the filter like it's designed to, now you don't even have a clean path for the air to go to

Would the guide fit with that monster intake on?
