Default Anyone have Canadian Tire install their DRLs?

When my car was imported from the US, CT did the DRL install. Had I known they were going to be the ones to do the work, I would have done it myself instead of letting them monkey around with it.

Anyway, initially they wired the lights up so that the HIDs were always on, with no tail lights on. I wasn't too pleased with that, but it didn't really matter since the first time I turned the switch on it blew the fuse in the DRL relay, rendering the DRLs inoperable, and making everything function as normal again.

I took it in and told them that I wanted them to re-wire it so the corner markers would come on instead of the HIDs. They did this, and now my tail lights are on all the time. I understand this is because the taillights, parking lights, and interior lights are all on the same circuit.

More annoyingly, the switch in the car now no longer activates the parking or taillights. It will turn on the HIDs, however if the car is not turned on, only the HIDs will come on, not the tail lights, nor the interior lights. The biggest problem with this is that the chime that notifies you if you've left your lights on is wired into the taillight circuit, and this has caused me (and my girlfriend, the one time I lent her the car) to leave the lights on at times, resulting in a dead or nearly dead battery.

I was looking at the wiring last night, and I can't figure out how they have disabled the switch that activates the parking/interior/taillighs.

Anyone think they can help me with this?

PS: DRL module used was HAMSAR 70987/45040.

PPS: Said DRL module was attached to the engine bay using a sheet metal screw through the body. Dumb****s.

Hey wanna take a look at mine to see what the "normal" operation for the S should be or are you looking to change the behaviour?

I'm planning on removing them alltogether for now, then over the winter when I have time I'll probably install them the "proper" way (ie. highbeams at 40% brightness).

Your car has the factory DRLs, which can be replicated with a different Hamsar module, however it is impossible (or at least very difficult/expensive) to install the actual Honda DRLs.

It's stuff like this that scared me away from letting CT install the DRL for me. I did it myself with the proper module spliced into the wiring harness, and I couldn't be happier for it. Next time we're in the same town, you're more than welcome to go over my car's wiring to see how it's supposed to behave.

Judging from the description, it sounds like CT cut the wires that turn on the parking/turn/interior lights and spliced it directly into an "always-on" DRL module.

Come over to the Meet in August Kevin. Can get it done then. I'm going and going to get a hotel room and stay the night as there is a BBQ to follow.

Crappy tire in North Van. They stuck it right below the main underhood fuse box, passenger side.

Andy, do your light switches work properly? How are your DRLs wired? (ie. HIDs, corners, taillights on/off, etc?)
