Default Hey guys! Been a while. LS2K project underway!

Several months ago at the Montgomery meet @ Jim & Nicks, I told a few of you about the swap I had planned for my S2000. Just wanted to share some good news with you guys.

For those that don't know, I've been planning an LS2 swap for over a year now.

The car has been up in Huntsville at HSC for about a month. Everything is coming together very nicely so far. I've got a Ford 8.8" IRS rear end out of an '04 Cobra arriving Monday, going to deliver it to the guys at HSC sometime next week. They've never had their hands on an S2000 before, so they're hoping to develop a mounting kit from the work they're doing now just as they've done with RX7s, 350Zs, 240s, and so forth, so my car is pretty much their test bed.

It's going to have a stroked LS2, single 76 trim turbo, T56, and the Ford 8.8" IRS differential with 3.55 gears from an '04 Cobra.

I initially thought this would be the first V8 S2K to roll out under its own power, but some guys in Florida at Action Auto Care beat us to the punch, and I've heard they're going to start working on more S2Ks soon.

Edit:
New estimate on completion is Summer '10. Initial tune will be on 93 octane... not sure what numbers we'll see from a reliable tune, but 800+ at the wheels is entirely within the realm of possibility. Thank god for boost controllers, as I won't be needing anything that stout on the street.

Since posting this thread, a few more have been completed. There's a whole forum devoted to swaps of this nature at v8s2000.com if anyone's interested.
/edit

Needless to say, I'm very excited for this. I'm sure there will be a ton of haters out there, especially the die-hard Honda faithful... but that's just fine with me. After all, this is my ideal car, not theirs.

No hate here. I always wanted a V8 Miata so why not upgrade to the S2000...

I've seen Hinson's work on a RX7. They would know the right way to get it done.

Woot!!

Last parts I needed arrived today:

Long story short, the full '04 Cobra rear subframe was my most convenient option a couple weeks ago. All other auctions I could find only offered pickup, no shipping... and most were FAR overpriced. Couldn't find the differential alone in local yards, not even one out of a Thunderbird or Mark VIII. Found this one in Iowa for $900, planning to sell the subframe/brakes/suspension and try to come out of it all with a Cobra diff for super cheap, free, or better... plus it already has the 3.55 gears I'd have bought for a Thunderbird/Mark VIII diff had I found one locally.

Going to remove the diff assembly tomorrow and deliver them to Huntsville either this weekend or the next, and try to get the remaining parts on ebay ASAP. If you know anyone with a Terminator who might want some spare/replacement OEM parts, let me know.
