New Camaro. Now Gay Friendly. CNN Money
I never really thought of the Camaro as a gay car, or a car marketed towards the gay population. Guess GM thinks otherwise.

This isn't a new concept. Im no marketing genius but I do know that its pretty common knowledge the gay and lesbian market is one of the most affluent and loyal buying groups. No kids, in a lot of cases combined incomes = more disposable income.
That said, its not hard to understand why so many companies are fighting for the gay dollar.
This Levi ad comes to mind - same commercial, different ending for different markets/networks (think Logo).

Why is this surprising or even controversial? As mentioned, the gay consumer base is one of the more affluent, cash-rich and consumption-friendly constituencies out there, and it's far too large to dismiss outright. At about 10% of the population, we're talking a market in the U.S. of around 30 million people. You'd have to be insane to ignore it. And, as mentioned, the gay market is diverse, so it's not just Beetle convertibles and mini coopers like people seem to think.
