It's hard for words to measure up the experience of the Dragon in Tennessee, but I'm going to try real hard with pics and commentary!

. . .Friday. . .

Dave (w1ngman) and I set upon a great road trip out to the Dragon in preparation of the September DragonBall Run. We left early morning on Friday knowing that our trip would be no less than 8 or 9 hours. You can read Dave's account Here.

The first pic on the road we will visit on Saturday during the New Bern meet/Auto Show. A great road for this area and I only took Dave on half of the true run!

A trip to Lowe's to pick up some necessary tools in installing Rick's awesome aeroscreen finds Dave giving an enthusiast a ride he will never forget! It was great to see folks in the distance just watching in complete aaww!

Installation of Rick's aeroscreen is complete and successful. Looks perfect!

Our first stop for fuel in Kinston (about 40 minutes from New Bern) gets us ready for the drive at hand!

We gotta eat. . .and there's no finer place for breakfast than The Cracker Barrel.

A trip to the Dragon via I-40 has us pass the city of Greensboro and home of Foreign Cars Italia. We had to stop. Dave sees the Ferrari's of his dream!

. . .still Friday. . .

Another stop for fuel and a bite of lunch at Tripp's proves worthy!

A slight "issue" with one of the bumps on Rick's aeroscreen sets us back about 15 minutes. Come to find out that Dave needed to apply a bit more pressure for a bit more time!

A great car wash (torrential "Hell's Fury" rain showers) as we enter the Knoxville area.

Finally. . .we arrive in Knoxville for dinner and drinks at Calhoun's! Sumir and Dave model.

Saturday (Dragon Day)

Our approach to the Dragon via the Foothills Parkway has us encounter some light rain.

Ahhhh, we've arrived at the mouth of the Dragon! We gather (traditionally) and try to buy a dog in the woods (relieve our urinary tracts)!

A nice shot at the Overlook. . .

. . .still Saturday. . .

. . .and thru the Dragon we drive. . .thanks to Andy (Mack's brother) for the pics!

A little solo shot on one of my favorite points in the Dragon!

Another car wash while driving the Cherohala Skyway.

. . .still Saturday. . .

After the whole day over in the Dragon, we stop by WestSide Honda in Knoxville. This will be our meet up point for the September event. A truly stunning dealership!

Three beauties in the showroom. . .

After the WestSide Honda visit, it's off to Carrabba's for some Italian eats! Sumir and WestSideBilly went for a Night Run of the Dragon after the dinner, very sweet!

Later that same night, Dave and I think it would be a great idea to clean up the cars a bit as they were filthy to the core. So, as we pump fuel, we ask where a good "do-it-yourself" car wash exists. The fuel attendant recommends the following:

The Bruised Banana gets a bath and so does Dave!

Ahhh. . .yeah. . .but, don't you need Cameras? What good are monitors for surveillance?

. . .still Saturday. . .

I opt not to clean my S2000 in the most Ghetto Car Wash known to man and we drive about 10 minutes away to what Dave later calls, the "Cadillac" of Car Washes!

Imagine that. . .

Absolutely "Touchless."

. . .Sunday. . .

Dave and I decide that we simply needed another run of the Dragon before we left so we ran out once more via Alcoa and I had an opportunity to talk with the General Manager, Emily. We are going to be sitting pretty here in Alcoa with the Jameson Inn. They are very excited to have us as guests and looks like we can expect absolute first-rate accomadations.

Here's a pic of the Jameson Inn in Alcoa, Tennessee.

And. . .if you opted for a Double Bed, here's what to expect.

Finally, Dave and I got some great "action" shots right before we ventured on home.

My S2000 looks like a mini in this pic. . .

A truly fantastic weekend! Driving the Dragon in the Wet was the first for me out of four other Dragon trips I've made. It was great, all the same.

The Tennessee DOT did a fantastic job with the repaving of the Dragon. The road texture is supreme. Everything looks great in anticipation for the DragonBall Run 2002 event in September. I want to thank Mack and his brother Andy, meyer, WestSideBilly, Sumir Brahmbhatt, ccarnel + Joe, cbj and w1ngman for a great time! Thanks for coming out and running the Dragon!

See everyone in September. . .

Raul's pic of our shiny-in-the-dark pair of trouble was just a titch too dark for my tastes...so I lightened it up a tad in PS. Here ya go:

Or this way! Ooooh! I just love Spa Yellow!
